Anyone know why, there was a military helicopter flying low and circling around Thibodaux?

I'd say probably training of some sort... Which of these does it look like?

Probably checking out the new Off The Hook?

From what I saw, more like the one in the middle.

Gen. Kip is holding military exercises to get ready to take on St. George

I would love to see an Apache doing some training exercises.
There are Blackhawks and Chinooks around from time to time in Ohio and I saw several Osprey off the coast of North Carolina last summer.
Something about seeing an attack copter like that would be awesome IMO

That's a blackhawk. If I had to guess it's from the LA Air Guard or perhaps Regular Army Ft. Polk and they're doing some sort of training. Or it's a navy bird being that far south. Just a guess.

They are impressive. They use to buzz us all the time making "practice" runs at us when we were in our tanks. Sometimes we'd be out in the field and come into a clearing and all of a sudden 2 or 3 of them would start popping up from the far tree line almost like they were whack-a-moles or something.

It's a national guard blackhawk. They do that all the time around here. If you live closer to NASJRB New Orleans you might get some glances at Super Cobras, Hueys, Super Stallions, and coast guard Dolphins

There is a Marine unit that flys Cobras out of NAS New Orleans (Belle Chasse). That's a fierce looking beast. They're very loud, and you can hear them coming for 20 or 30 seconds. Then, all of a sudden, blasting over the treetops, there they are! I'd hate to be on the receiving end of what they can give out.

So Apache attack helicopters buzzing Abrams tanks is worthy of two downvotes... interesting.

There are a bunch of LA Nat'l Guard aviation units based in Hammond, including Blackhawks. We see them frequently following the course of the Tchefuncte River here in Madisonville. They are either conducting riverine insertion flight training or checking out the poontang. I suspect it's the second possibility, using the first as an excuse!

I recently saw Apache or Cobra (not going to pretend I can tell the difference) flying very low around the Superdome and CBD about a month ago. They are amazing looking and highly intimidating.
