Public Schools in Louisiana

With the pissing matches between Texas and Louisiana in full effect, this got me thinking about the public school system in Louisiana. What do you think are the factors that make the public school systems so bad? Are there any public schools that you'd actually send your children to? It's sad you actually have to spend tens of thousands of dollars just so your child can get a decent education.

There are a ton of good public schools in Louisiana, they just aren't located in New Orleans or Baton Rouge.

Any of the top magnet schools in N.O., B.R., or Shreveport, maybe Laffy. Mandeville High.

Franklin is one of the top public schools in the country. What are you talking about?

Lafayette has good public schools, I just prefer the catholic school environment. I'd prefer it no matter where I lived and how good the schools were.

In my experience, the best ranked public schools are certainly not the most desirable public schools.

LA school system is a joke

This came out a week or 2 ago. Of the top 10 only 1 is a true public school (not a charter or magnet or selective admissions)

My kids went to #14, daughter got academic scholarship to Baylor so I'd say they do a pretty good job. When you have to take whoever lives in your district, the overall rating won't be as high as something like a Ben Franklin. Only Bolton and Mandeville beat HHS for true publics.

Yeah, but there are very few great ones. We like to pound our chest in this state about St. Charles Parish, Livingston Parish, Ascension, etc, but they are a joke compared to what is considered a good school system in most of the country. The good and great public schools in Texas put these average schools in La to shame.
The way I look at it, I would rather live where I want and get a good private school education for my kids if I'm going to be in this state.

I'm not trolling, I genuinely want to know why the school system as a whole in LA is so bad.

one factor is there is no discipline
the faculty don't like to suspend/expel because it hurts their schools rating
they keep pushing these bad kids back into the classes which disrupt the class for the kids that do want to learn
once the kids see that theres little consequence to their actions, it becomes a virus, and other kids adopt the same behavior
not to mention too many of the parents DGAF
my wife's first year teaching in EBR, a student told her "my mama said I ain't had to listen to no white devil"
thats a damn 2nd grader
