Guys I know make 6 figures straight out of school. Marine engineering that is.

They're in much demand also.

Our chief engineer turned down a job last year paying $2000/day. He told me he was too old and the conditions were too cold. Some boat way up north by the ice.

But yes they make a lot of money

From posting you answered that in 1 minute.

You literally have the fastest hands in the west and would have won all gun battles in old timey movies. How does that make you feel?

My wife's company has several. They make close to $150k at first, but most are making closer to $200k designing new vessels and such. And working their asses off most nights and weekends.

ETA: these guys are extremely specialize though and have several years of experience before being hired at this company. And I would assume these are some of the highest wages.

I have a family member with a degree in naval engineering from UNO. Started out at 90k in New Orleans but then moved to Galveston and is around the 130k range.

With no exp, you won't get an offer. With a bachelors and some internships, 65000ish. With a masters and 5 years, 90,000. With 10+ and masters, depends on situation. I work one.

They do very very well. A Naval Architect I used to be secretary to has his own company and I believe he has offices in other parts of the world. If you want his contact name can provide for you.

I work at a naval architecture firm.

This is in New Orleans...

Bachelors and internships: $65k
5 yrs experience: $70-80k
5+ yrs w/ Masters: $90k

In Texas, you will make much, much more. A friend of mine is in Texas and only has 5 years experience and he's making $120k. He also graduated from the Naval Academy.
