Friend of mine I work with is selling his 2006 F-250 Lariat 6.0L crewcab. He bought it last year from some old man that barely drove it. It only has 65k miles on it. Hes selling it because he hardly uses it, might have put 5K miles on it last year. Its in great condition, hasnt been modified, no EGD or that other shite that gives the 6.0 the problems. I know Ford had trouble with those engines once people started to try to tune them. Just curious if any of you guys have had any problems w this model. Hes asking $21k. TIA

Question: Would I be banned from the OB if I had a 4x2?

This sounds backwards, but if it wasn't run hard it'll likely have some problems in the near future.

If it doesn't have all the scheduled maintenance receipts from a dealership I'd stay away from it. They're very picky about maintenance and I wouldn't gamble $21k, but that's just me.

I read the thread title without reading the body, and my answer is no.

Fwiw, I am selling my 08 4wd Lariat CC with a brand new engine for $22k(not trying to sell it to you), if that puts it into perspective.

I would never buy a 6.4 under any circumstance, but I would buy a 6.0 under the right conditions.

Take that FWIW.

I had a 6.0 and loved it. It would run off and leave my 7.3 even though the 7.3 had a tuner on it.

Has the coolant been flushed? What is the spread from ECT/ECT? You need to know these things before buying one.If you are serious about buying it,get a Scangauge2 and program in the EOT/ECT, FICM voltage. If the EOT is 12-15 degrees or more than the coolant under no load,60mph,flat ground driving after 20 -30 minutes....There are issues brewing that are very expensive to fix. That means your oil cooler is plugged and not allowing flow to EGR will will blow shortly introducing coolant into your engine.Thats when the headgaskets say BYE BYE.Bottom line...run the oasis and get a scangauge 2 BEFORE you buy it.

I'll never be without one of these. Ever.

My car had 120 miles on it when I got one

To own a 6.0 you have to be pretty involved with what's going on under the hood. The ones I've seen with the least problems were the ones that were left stock but worked hard. I'd be a little iffy about getting one that's been babied unless it had really low miles.

Good deal and 6.0 should never be in the same sentence.

That's actually your best chance for a good deal.

If you're well versed on them you can make a very good buy. If they're treated like they need to be treated from day one they'll last.

For $21k it is definitely not a good deal. If I were forced to buy it, I wouldn't pay a penny over $18k

Oh yea I'm not talking about this one in particular. I found an 05 in houston a while back for $16k with 58k miles on it. That is a good deal assuming it checks out.
