What Mexican place is going in there? Is it still gonna be Bulldog owners with Velvet Cactus? Why so long in the process, despite the recent progress?
What restaurant is going in the old Jack Sabin/Chinese buffet on Airline near Old Hammond across from bowling alley/McD's? Somebody has done a solid renovating of it's front facade..maybe the interior & additional Acadian-styled quarters too?

Didn't realize a Mexican place was going in there.. that's awesome if so. figured it would be a bank or drug store

Not sure of thee Mexican place, your speculation sounds right. I heard they had subsurface issues but that was a bit ago. I haven't paid attention to it last few weeks.
Old Jack Sabins is the new Scientology building. I'm sure Peggy Westerman is designing it which is why it looks good.

I believe that is a different Tex-Mex joint in old LPK. Velvet Cactus is being built from ground up on Old Hammond site.
ruzil & Martini, I doubt Doug or Scott are into it?

Velvet Cactus is going in, from what I hear/know it is the same guys who own the Bulldog. So look for a awesome patio with great drinks and average food. However, Im a excited for its arrival that is a bike ride away for drinks and queso on a patio with a strong drink without having to cross Jefferson, Old Hammond, or Lobdell. Been doing a good job reserving my bar stool at the new Walk Ons but have to cross one of those streets

I'm sure when they were young but haven't seen in many years. I doubt it.
Is that an L Ron Hubbard movie?

Umm yeah. The Westermans basically brought scientology to BR back in the 80s. It was rumored that Dr. Westerman would pull teeth without anesthesia.

Went to Dr Westerman for years.....great doctor, though I always thought the Scientology was just a bit weird!! Never asked me to let him pull a tooth or do anything without anesthesia.....LOL

And a swing and a miss.

They don't look like scientologists.

How so? Why are you such a disgruntled count? You don't remember them having Dianetics studies at his office? They did. I know their kids.
I've also heard of his patients telling me he tried to dissuade them from anesthesia and to use their mind to set aside the pain.
Get over yourself you arrogant hemorrhoid.

Martini is right on here. I have known Bob for a long time, worked for him for a year or so and have never seen him use these Scientology techniques on his patients. He does use L Ron's principles to help manage the operation of his practice and knows that green bible like the back of his hand.
Once, a hygienist was pissed and left for lunch and never came back. He overheard me and another employee talking about her quitting and he said that she didn't quit, she blew. I guess I had a puzzled look on my face which prompted him to ask me if I knew what it meant to "blow".
Well, I thought I knew what it meant, but he asked me to get him the L Ron Hubbard book and turned right to the page which described what it meant to blow.
Apparently, you can't quit a job, you blow it and it only happens when an employee is doing something they shouldn't and don't want to get caught or not doing something they should and don't want to get caught or they "feel" that they have been mistreated.
It is not an option to blame the manager when an employee quits. Kind of convenient.

I'd have to say this would be incorrect. Regardless of what he believes the man is a professional and well aware of his professional liability and one dry socket patient decides to get the E Guarantee ( which apparently will be available again soon) and tells of the hoodoo voodoo in lieu of established guidelines of acceptable pain management he's doing dental work on Santa's elves.
If you are going to make up stuff at least make it believable.
