Water Wheel - Removes litter from river using currents

This is a much smaller waterway than the Mississippi River, but could something similar be implemented somewhere along the river mouth?

You obviously can't block the river due to freighter traffic, but can you divert the current slowly to one point while allowing boats to pass?

Nitrogen and phosphorus removal, and sediment saving is much more important

That is a great contraption. It would have to be pretty tough to handle god knows what flowing down major rivers

I also imagine it would need to dump the debris into a much larger holding container, as it would probably fill up rather quickly.

Well, while we are at it, could these water wheels also be used to generate some electricity? Pick up trash and generate electricity...sounds like Nobel peace prize material here.
