He claims The Fellowship of the Ring was the best of the three because it was grounded in reality and balanced location and CGI quite well. It was more of an actor's movie. He feels that the film's sequels get too bogged down with CGI and that, after the first two Hobbit movies, Jackson has become obsessed with it.

He's right in that aspect, IMO

Fellowship was great to watch

He's pretty spot on in that respect. Fellowship was great.

well he's certainly right about the CGI once they got to the Hobbit movies.

the ending of Return of the King was guilty as well w/the ghost army wave of instant death used to win the battle of Minas Tirith instead of the Grey Company.

He's not a fan of how they were made. He's pretty clear if the movies weren't good they wouldn't have been able to make them the way they did

That's somewhat of a misleading title. He just said he prefers the first more than the rest.

While I might agree, I think Two Towers is fine, RotK starts to get out of hand though.

I agree. RotK is the worst of the trilogy. The ghost army was just a massively idiotic display of over CGI'd crap.

They're all boring. I don't know if the books just didn't translate well to film for me or what, but I hated them.

Love the books. Hate the movies.

It's a shame Fellowship and Two Towers didn't win best picture but Return of the King did

This. I like them all but The Twin Towers is probably my favorite. I guess I just love the Riders of Rowan theme. Theoden recovers from possession. Leads his people to Helm's Deep. The Elves respond to an ancient alliance sacrificing immortality. The Riders of Rowan led by Gandalf come through in the clutch winning a desperate battle. Then in Return of the King, Theoden heeds the call of Gondor in spite of the great losses of his own people. It just doesn't get any better than that.

Fellowship is definitely my favorite. It just had a magic about it that the other two never quite lived up to. Though I thought The Two Towers was a a good movie. Especially Helm's Deep. And the Theoden scenes in ROTK were well done.

And I agree with the posters above regarding the ghost army. To me they look like nothing so much as those "scrubbing bubbles" from the old bathtub cleaner commercials.

Fellowship is the best. I love the character development and peacefulness before shite hits the fan

He's right. Though oddly enough I like the Hobbit movies better, go figure.

I agree with him although I like all the movies. Haven't seen any of the hobbits though.

This movie blogger took significant issue with Viggo biting the hand that fed him. I agree with the movie blogger. Viggo needs to shut the hell up.
