Sound to me like a lot of the people in charge of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are a bunch of politically correct snobs. Political correctness is the opposite of the rebel nature of rock.

If I was made dictator of the Hall of Fame, these are the 5 acts I would induct.

1. Judas Priest
2. Deep Purple--Can't believe they weren't a founding member.
3. Ted Nugent--He'll never get in. People are afraid of him because he has opinions outside the mainstream.
4. Scorpions
5. Georgia Satellites

Deep Purple
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Rainbow
these are all metal bands and Jan hates metal so who knows if they get in other than Purple.

I hope The Cult, Cheap Trick,The Cure SRV,and Journey get in at some point in my lifetime

I'm not convinced he likes rock and roll either.

I think the RnR HOF has done a perfectly abysmal job of honoring the changes in pop music. They are stil honoring second tier acts from the 60s/70s, almost completely ignoring the 80s underground which was the seismic shift in the industry. Hell, they are honoring their progeny, but not the pioneers.

I'd honor:

Afrika Bambaata
The Replacements
The Cure
Sonic Youth
The Smiths

And we still haven't gotten around to admitting 80s hardcore exists. 5 more egregious oversights:

Eric B and Rakim
Fugazi
Black Flag
The Pixies
New Order

ETA: The job of a museum is to tell a story. They do an awful job of telling the story. Rock's story is far more diverse and interesting than what the museum presents. And that's a shame.

It's lost a generation of music fans.

All one has to know about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and realize it is a complete joke is that the Beatles were not inducted until the third year of its existence. That is akin to the Baseball Hall of Fame omitting Babe Ruth.

When you comment on the Baseball Hall of Fame you have used the term Hall of Very Good. I think that would be a very generous description for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
