AFL salaries are modest, with most players earning between $40,000 and $50,000 per season. The league minimum is $31,000, and the average salary, boosted by the contracts of a handful of franchise players who earn six figures, is $80,000. Most arena athletes hold non-football jobs during the offseason.

that was the old league that shut down in 2009...

now it's like $400 to $800 a game and a few players on each team, mostly the QBs, get more, between $1,000 to $1,500 a game... they're not getting rich off it

there is debate over whether the players should be paid more... some say higher paid players lead to a better level of play, and it will, but I don't think that level is something most fans will notice.

Arena football is so bad - the caliber of people who attend those games is awful. Same type of people you see in the DMV

Doesn't everyone have to go to the DMV at some point?

there's this guy that's become a huge joke from my hometown that started a "semi-pro" football team. But basically you pay for your own insurance and uniforms and still volunteer to play.

Arena League used to be alright though, for guys that weren't ready to give up on the dream, it paid enough to survive, stay in shape and hang onto hope that the NFL might call. But I thought even that folded up 4 or 5 years ago.

With the no-contact rules the NFL has instituted, we will have Arena-ball on a standard field within 5 years.

I used to work with a guy that played arena ball. He would work at the store in the offseason. He blew up one season and wound up playing in the NFL FOR 2 or 3 seasons. He was probably the most humble guy I met while working there.

the minor-league indoor teams often have multiple players doing this. the one we had in LC basically made the players pay money to play (when you factor in the insurance they had to buy).

We have intramural flag football leagues. One of the girls in our squadron was married to an AFL QB before the league went under.

He played for the LA Galaxy. Dude was legit.

He said they only made a couple hundred per game though and he absolutely hated the shite.
