Tyrion gains an unlikely ally; Daario asks Dany to allow him to do what he does best; Jon's warnings about the vulnerability of the Wall are ignored; Brienne follows a new lead.

Yeah - Jaime wouldn't be unlikely, would he? Neither would Bronn, for that matter. Obviously, it could be Tywin, Tommen, even Varys at this point (after seemingly turning his back), but, since there is an episode coming up called "The Mountain and the Viper" - and Tyrion has demanded trial by combat, maybe it is one of them?
Either would seem pretty damned unlikely at this point.

Oberyn is known as the Red Viper.

The unlikely ally is Oberyn because he hates the Lannisters.
We just don't see it as unlikely because we've seen the trailer for this season that shows Oberyn fighting the Mountain.

Seems to me like HBO dropped the ball on setting up this part of the trial, by showing Oberyn and the Mountain in the season preview.
