Where's the best place in BR to buy quality tires at a good price?

Is there a Sams Club or Costco? If so, there.

I would get an idea of what tire you are going with. If you feel the ones you currently have were sufficient ask for quotes on them.

The day before or the day of getting new tires call a half dozen places and get a quote for those tires "out the door."

Also, ask for a quote on a tire that is comprable to what you have now.

Make a list of all this info then call back the place with the lowest price and reverify and leave your name.

When you show up check the price again before the work starts just to be sure.

It takes about 30-45 minutes of work, but you will be surprised how much tires vary and how one place isn't always cheaper. For instance a couple weeks ago I needed new tires and Treads and Care was the cheapest by almost $75. Would have never guessed that.

Also some places try to get rid of overstock and they'll cut prices. I got a good deal on a set from Allied Tire in Lafayette.

If I were you, I would research what specific tire you want for your vehicle then find a company that would price match. You can check the websites of Tire Rack, Walmart, Sams, Discount Tire, etc. and once you find the lowest price, bring it to the local tire shop to see what kind of deal they can give you.

I recently put Michelin Primacy's on my 2011 Maxima and I love the tires.

The price of tires fluctuates on an almost weekly basis based on the cost of materials. I'm sure it also depends on what they paid for the tires they have in stock, too.

I ordered my last set from Walmart.com. Free site-to-store delivery and installation was cheap.

^ this.

i shopped around a bunch for the last set for my truck. sam's wasn't much cheaper (if at all) because they charge more for all their labor and for the service warranty. i went with a local place that included the service plan for free. cost about the same. fwiw, i got cooper tires, and have been satisfied so far.

Why in the heck is there always a line at that cheap tire stand at the Fairgrounds on Airline Hwy in Prairieville? That just seems dangerous to buy what looks like used tires.

A lot of poors in that area, need tires and have little money so they get by with used stuff thinking they are saving. Can't imagine it working in their favor over the long run.

When you buy local you usually get a lot cheaper rotation and balance. Prices the difference last week. At 40 extra dollars each time you rotate the tires for their lifetime, you better be saving a lot by buying online. I just don't see it.

What if they are directional tires?

Probably one of the places you have already called and didn't like their price.

You'll get exactly what you pay for when it comes to quality. So depends on your car.

I don't think most people have directional tires but obviously that is worth considering.

I deal with local independents. I don't know if I overpay or not. I always buy good tires.

Supreme Toyota screwed me on the tires on my 2008 Tundra. The sticker had Michelins on it and I didn't pay attention. They must have swapped them out. I got about 40,000 miles out of the generals or b f goodrich they had put on it. I thought that was horrible. I didn't catch the switch out until I was under the truck one day and saw I had a Michelin spare. I got the sticker out of the glove box and saw it said Michelin. (That was not my only bad experience with Supreme--I don't trust them even to take my truck back there for recalls.)

Anyway my second set was Bridgestone in an all-weather thread and I got 65000. Now I have a set of Michelins on it and have about 40000 miles on them and I think they are about half thread or better.

So I say all this to point out I have had three different tires on the same truck and there is a difference in brands.

I simply called three local guys around Hammond and got the price on the Michelins I wanted and took the best one and have not regretted it. They are going be 70-80K mile tires easily.

Heck with Sam's.

Decide on the tire you want then buy.

TireRack.com has a warehouse in Shreveport. Cheapest prices and will ship directly to a shop in BR for installation. I use Fisher's Automotive on Airline.
