Amazing. I thought it would have been a ´Pool match.

I don't see how those numbers can remotely be accurate - and they have no way or tracking how many people watch it in bars, right?

I can tell you that WSMV, the local NBC affiliate for Nashville, did not even show the Manchester City match on Sunday despite being televised nationally. We were instead shown cartoons, and religious programming.

Unfortunately, this is probably the truth.

I looked into what was going on 2/8/14. Olympics were just getting started and that match was the last of the day. Was this game on NBC or NBC Sports? Either way it was pretty incredible. I tend to always have the NBC Sports channel on throughout the games, I'd assume that a lot of households flipped to that station since everybody else's matches were over. Pretty cool draw for a 3 goal Welsh Derby. I'm just excited about the numbers that are coming out. Saw earlier today that 4.9 million Americans were watching the Final Sunday. The World Cup numbers should be outrageous with the afternoon and Evening matches.

I thought during the Olympics, the matches were shown on USA?
No way they pulled those ratings.

Well to be fair, we cut our teeth 4 years ago when Chicken gave us the World Cup Board. Then he saw how awesome we are and gave us a full time soccer board. I expect a lot of assholes in here during the cup telling me how the USA sucks and I'm sure we will pick up a couple of good posters.

We´ll pick up some converts, for sure. As to good posters, let´s hope.

Maybe I just have glowing nostalgia, but I'm pretty sure most of the wc board was legit soccer fans and only about 1% were not fans but came on just for the cup.
The more the merrier I say. As long as they aren't a-hole trolls.

I think you were right, but there was a ton of bitching throughout the site about soccer getting a board. The butthurt was flowing.

For true. I'm pretty sure there was a new thread daily on the help board about why did we need a wc board

Plus 1. The MSB soccer threads were pretty awesome. Zero soccer discussed after first two posts. But fun.

I'm sad I discovered them months before the wc board, lol

I don't get the butthurt about us having a soccerboard. Having perused the other boards I can say that it's definitely the best one here. Ok maybe I'm biased, but the SB has an incredible quality of posters and when people come here looking to be educated about the game, an education is what they get. We're more helpful than the help board.

A lot of people with weird, super minority interests were upset, as they see soccer akin to them.

Assholery, AKA OT and SEC Rant, are the norm around here.
