Will the Saints consider Mettenberger if available in the fourth?

I think hes the best QB in this draft, just saying. Dude's got a big arm and can take hits.
Mccaron's a great pro prospect too. I think analysts really blew it evaluating this qb class imo.

I don't think he has the knee or back to play center

I wouldn't mind the Saints taking Mett, but logically speaking, he wouldn't see the field until Drew's contract is up. One of the incredible things about Drew is how durable he's been since he came to New Orleans eight years ago... the only game he missed was back in 09' when the Saints had the 1st seed in the playoffs locked up, and they sat him to avoid a possible injury in a game that didn't affect them either way. It's good to have a solid backup QB, but as far as drafting Drew's eventual replacement, the Saints will probably wait a couple more years to do that. And they may already have that player in Ryan Griffin...

I really don't understand why he was so highly rated on boards and this is coming from an LSU fan. I just don't see how this guy is going to be good in the NFL. So, no. Kinda seems like Jamarcus Russell where the NFL is stubborn and think they can coach every flaw up just because he has great physical attributes. He has no pocket awareness, lacks accuracy at times, a complete statue in the pocket and doesn't make great reads. The only real things that are great about him is he'll take a hit under pressure to make the hard throw and has a great arm. Really don't get it. I think other teams realized this too and that's why he's dropping.

Doubt we'll take him, but the reason is it's too early in Brees' career still.

A great arm and the willingness to stand in to make the throw is a good starting point, especially under a coach like Payton. If he can learn the system, he will eliminate blitzes from the opponent- between the 15 yd penalty risk and the likelihood he will still complete the pass despite getting popped, it becomes a bad option for defenses.

Mett made some solid progress in his one year under a good OC, so he is still an unknown with good potential. Just not here.

I'd really like that to be true, he definitely looked like a pro style qb at tulane.
I'd really like it if we took Tulane WR Ryan Grant in the 7th or as an UFA. It'd be the ultimate developmental tool for Griffin.

There weren't any top NFL QBs in this draft except maybe the guy from Eastern Illinois and he's risky. Maybe Manziel too, but he needs to mature a lot. Bortles is a reasonably safe bet to be solid. I never saw Carr play so I can't judge.
The rest are slow footed, stare down receivers and don't have the mental game down. One of Mettenberger or McCarron may develop, but they are projects.
