Les was right not to play Lee.

I understand why, given the situation in the game, people wanted to see Lee get a shot. We wanted to see Les do SOMETHING to try to change to flow of the game, it's not like things could really haven gotten that much worse, right?
I don't totally disagree but Lee had been absolutely awful against Alabama in previous meetings. He was an interception machine and the main reason we lost to them in 2008 and in 2009 JJ had played a decent enough game and kept us in the hunt to try to win it. JJ gets hurt and Lee comes in and does absolutely nothing. Go look at those 4th quarter offensive stats from that game. In 2010 JJ started and we won the game, JL had the one big TD, can't take that away but Jefferson was the main guy and we won. Same thing in the first meeting in 2011. Alabama always excelled against drop back passers and the sad truth is that if we had put in Lee, the outcome would very likely have been even worse.
To this day, Jordan jefferson has more wins as a starting QB against a Saban coached Alabama team than any other quarterback. He may not have been the main reason for those wins, but he definitely was not a huge factor in the losses like Lee was in 2008 and 2009. I know everyone loves to pile on Les, but given what we knew at that time, JJ was the best option we had from start to finish.
