HGTV Pulls New Home-Flipping Series After Report Emerges Identifying Its Stars As Anti-Gay Activists
quote:

After the group Right Wing Watch reported the twins who star in HGTV’s recently greenlit reality series Flip It Forward are anti-gay activists, the network said this morning it had given the hook to the series, which was set to debut in October. Yesterday, HGTV said it was “currently in the process of reviewing all information about the Benhams and we will provide an update as soon as possible.” Then came a tweet today:

HGTV has decided not to move forward with the Benham Brothers' series.
11:00 AM - 7 May 2014
quote:

Right Wing Watch reported Tuesday that David Benham had led a prayer rally outside of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC in 2012, in which he told conservative radio host Janet Mefferd that America’s Christian majority must repent for tolerating “homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation” and “demonic ideologies tak[ing] our universities and our public school systems.” He also said his brother had joined him in the prayer protest. The group also claimed David leads protests outside of abortion clinics.

quote:

HGTV announced at its upfront presentation last month in Los Angeles that it had picked up the home-flipping series about brothers David and Jason Benham. The network’s description of the show at the time: “After a decade of flipping houses for profit, brothers David Benham and Jason Benham now help families buy the homes they never thought they could afford. In each episode, the guys help a deserving family find a fixer-upper and transform it into their forever home — with a healthy dose of sibling rivalry between the brothers along the way.” At the same presentation, HGTV also announced it had greenlighted a design competition show from Ellen DeGeneres.

What does the HG in HGTV represent? Thought it was Home and Garden?

You ever watch that channel? It's nothing but interior design shows.

Who watches interior design shows?

Why would you put a show on with people you know your audience will not watch?

Three guesses which demographic watches a lot of fabulous Home and Garden TV. Sounds like a smart move on their part to let this show be stillborn.

Someone should tell them I quit watching their shows on HGTV because they put forth homosexuals on their show. So now I can cancel watching A&E, and the congress needs to pass a bill where you don't have to pay for programing you don't watch, I bet those same stupid fools wouldn't be so quick to try and smear the christian faith then.

Why don't you tell them yourself? Do your own homework.

You could just cut cable.

Easy answer you two nitwits. They just said that the christian faith is evil and wrong, they just stated christians don't have a right to believe that homosexuality is wrong, and if they do we are going to punish their beliefs.

And also you smart azz, I shouldn't have to pay for filthy shows I don't agree with like MTV, but you are too stupid to know the only reason congress doesn't do anything about this bundling B.S. is because they are getting graft / kickbacks from these cable giants. Ted Kennedy tried to stop this B.S. 15 years ago.

And I do expect very soon, that a christian organization is going to rise up and we are going to start boycotting products and organizations who want to keep pushing evil as good & and good as evil.

Yeah, they should totally be tolerant of intolerance.

Also, this sounds like the free market doing what it wants. Remember that abortionplex in Texas that couldn't find willing contractors? Same idea here.

The market place to pander to Christian/traditional values on TV is huge. Shows like DD, 19 Kids and Counting and the entire network Fox News proves it. Lots of money to be made in that advertising market.

Thus, let the HGTVs of the world choose the market they wish to play in. I guess they have calculated that there are sufficient numbers in the dingle berry market to sustain their business.

Looks like it will stay that way, too, instead of becoming "Hating Gays"
