Why would you shave a lab? Buy a brush

Standard clippers work fine. They sell "Pet trimmers" if you want to pay double for the same thing.

I've never heard of someone shaving a lab, you sure about this?

I really wouldnt do this....

Their hair is thicker at the root and they are not used to being shaved.

We used to shave ours every summer. They can get sunburned, so be careful with that.

I have a yellow lab and shave her every year. Typically I shave her in the spring when the winter coat starts to shed. It helps if they live indoors so you can just take all the fur off at once rather than them shedding off throughout the spring and summer months. My lab seems to enjoy being shaved during the summer too.

Wahl clippers

These are what I have for my wife's cats. I don't know if you really need to buy pet specific clippers or not, but they work.

We have a lab mix and get him shaved several times each summer. Helps with the shedding.

Now that I think about it, I'm gonna shave my GS. The hair this dog loses in unbelievable.

Ask Donald Sterling how to run the clippers although he would probably say to not use them on a black lab.
