About 6 years ago I was going through a rough spot an was bascially demoted from my job title, I deserved it. Since that time I have gotten back on track got a specialist degree an turned things around. Well the guy that was brough in to replace me, made my life hell at work for 4 years before I transferred to another department. Was offered a new job this morning, about a 30k raise an will be that dick heads direct supervisor. Do you think it is possible for me to not hold a grudge an not be a complete dick to the guy? Any of you guys ever had something like this happen?

Yes, if you're an adult.

It will be hard not to at times. But we shall see what kind of person you are.

I would be an a-hole but thats me, and he/she would expect it to come sooner or later.

You don't have to be a complete dick, but being sort of a dick is just part of being a boss.

Do you, man. That guy doesnt sign your paychecks, dont let him get in the way of bettering yourself. The company is obviously wanting to pay you to have a leadership role ultimately to increase their efficiency/profits, just as any business.

Be an adult, take the job, be a supervisor, make the money and go home at the end of the day.

Sounds like you're in a good position to make him think you're out for revenge without actually having to do it. Just mind-frick him and make him think you're out for blood and enjoy your extra 30k.

Your promotion is bad enough for them. Don't even act like the past bothers you. The anticipation of retaliation that never comes, will drive them crazy.

Why are you unable to type 'and'?

You will probably be a shitty supervisor.

No problem, I'm taking the job. Just wonder should he an I sit down an clear the air before we get started. I was never mad he got my job, I just hated his guts for making the four years I worked under him hell.

Holding a personal grudge is for women. Women are narrow minded and they want payback for every single little things.

Be a real man and let go of the past.

Not just yet. Let him think you're gunning for him for a while, then you can do this. 4 years is a long time to be in a hostile work environment.

No need to clear the air. Just be an adult about it and do your job.
