I'm not really much of a fan of Jon Stewart's, but his point is right on target.

quote:

He then ripped conservatives for their laser-like focus on the intelligence failure that contributed to the loss of American lives in Benghazi, pointing out that intelligence failures contributing to the Iraq War -- even outright lies from top officials like Condoleezza Rice and Dick Cheney about he presence of nuclear material in Iraq -- didn't provoke similar rage during the Bush administration.

2 points

1. it is hypocritical for RINO GOPers to criticize intelligence failures, b/c they obviously didn't post-911

2. this myopic view that the "right" is the same in 2014 as it was in 2008 is ignorant. again, the rejection of GWB's policies and the policies of the GOP of that era led to the Tea Party and a huge spike in libertarianism. that is such a lazy argument that ignores reality today

You know what the Iraq War and Benghazi have in common right?

Hillary Clinton lied about both.

FOR THE LAST TIME: NO ONE is upset about intelligence failures regarding Benghazi, because there were NONE!!!!

Intelligence prior to the attack suggested that it wasn't a safe situation. That's why Ambassador Stephens requested on at least two occasions MORE security. He was turned down.

What people are upset about is the farce that followed the attack - the lies about the stupid video, and the lack of cooperation with the congressional committees that have CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY to oversee the Executive Branch.

Jon Stewart is NOT a journalist. He's a comedian. Sometimes he's even funny.

I saw the segment.

His point is right on target, if you are an eight year old trying to justify poor behavior.

"Bush did it too" is no excuse for lying to the American people to try and save an election.

So, it goes like this...

"We defended Bush vigorously, even after it became obvious he had misled the country, even to the point of assailing the patriotism of Americans who criticized him, but we're not those same people anymore."

????

This is monolithic thought in a nutshell folks. Rex, I used to at least read what you said and think there might be some reasoning behind it, even if it made no sense to me. That's gone.

Bush hasn't been the president for 6 years. Own Obama's failures. Elections have consequences.

Yet you don't find defending the Obama administration relying on the "We didn't have good intelligence at the time" as hypocritical?

Fool. Hypocrisy is all around. Which is why focusing on it is an exercise in stupidity.

some people learn from their mistakes and don't put party first above all else, politically

if you don't agree things like the Tea Party and the rise or libertarianism show that "the right" is rejecting the "big brother RINO" GOP, then you're being willfully ignorant. i mean we just witnessed a civil war in the GOP that went on for months
