Michael Hirsh: The Benghazi-Industrial Complex

This is a really good piece. I would paste quotes but you really just have to read the whole thing. Individual quotes would not provide adequate context and just end up in a "gotcha-fest" on both sides. So...for those with a few minutes, enjoy the whole thing.

Perhaps if the Republicans can’t beat Hillary Clinton fairly in 2016, they can make her so disgusted by the prospect of running that she’ll stay out of the race.

This assumes that Hillary committed some type of neglect and she'll grow tired of defending herself.

But if she's innocent why not let the GOP beat a dead horse? If Hillary is innocent she'll come out shining and garner the sympathetic vote cruising to a 2016 landslide victory.

No worries, right?

I would tend to agree, it meanders a bit but is a good read. i especially like this quote
quote:

And yet in truth, if I were a Republican strategist (which I’m not), I would advise conservatives to scandalize away. I’d also advise the Koch brothers and other deep-pocketed conservatives to underwrite the BIC as the messaging campaign for 2016 gets started. Not because they’re ever going to prove anything nefarious (though hey, you never know), but they may well be able to successfully if cynically exploit the soft spot in Hillary Clinton’s ambitions for the White House: her utter disgust with the Washington political game and the willingness of the media to play along

This scandal is a nothingburger, but I doubt it hurts republicans and they should push away for a better chance in 2016.

I do think Rex is right, they are just flat out terrified of a HRC candidacy. So they are throwing out as much as they can now to dissuade her from running. Much like the current hits on Chris Christie.

Is this what passes as objective journalism in the demented Kool-Aid filled mind of a democrat these days?

Jesus, the only question that needs to be asked is how much is this "journalist" getting per month from the DNC and the Committee to Elect Hillary Clinton as President to spew this garbage.

The only thing Hillary is innocent of is the blow job her husband got in the Oval Office. If she would have known about it first, none of the rest of us would have ever heard about it. That's how she operates.

Angling for a WH job, he sees all of his former associates working for Odrama and wants to get in on a potential gravy train too.

its clear that this is an opinion piece. If you can't see that, I don't know what to say.

So, why is it listed in Politico's POLITICS section instead of some sort of Op-Ed?

Then again, I guess you can say the same thing about every "article" that appears in the New York Times and the Washington ComPost.

you would need to talk to the editors, but I don't believe they have sections. They just tagged it politics b.c it is.

I am sorry that your critical reasoning skills are so weak you can't see that. Tough to go through life without a brain.

He left out White Water, the insider trading, and losing documents.
Hillary learned a lot while working on Watergate.

She will come out of this presidential run looking terrible so it's easy to hang your hopes on HC for 2016 b/c she is in fact a power player, but just wait until those debates - it's going to be all Benghazi all the time. You will only be able to deflect so much. Mitt didn't capitalize on it as he should've, but rest assured, another one will.

I think it's the dems who are terrified at the realization that they may have one of the most unlikable presidential candidates in history as their putative nominee in 2016.

Listen to any Hillary speech and tell me honestly, who wants to hear that for 4 straight years.

That's just delusional.

The only way you could possibly think this is going to significantly damage HRC is if you read crap like Newsmax, Ulsterman Report and/or the American Thinker[sic].

Stop deliberately misinforming yourself! They're taking advantage of you! They're selling ads and making money off of your love for outrage....and they'll keep giving it to you. It's like a bunch of heroin addicts around here, I swear.

HRC is definitely a polarizing figure, but she has decent ratings.

I personally don't like her, and will not vote for her.

And you have to remember that as banged up as HRC is after the primaries, the republican nominee will likely be more banged up. Look at what happened to romney. The republican primary will be particularly bloody in 2016 with grassroots vs. mainstream eviscerating all of the candidates.

I like the republican response to "is she qualified"

8 years as Senator from NY
4 years as Sec. of State
not to mention 8 years as first lady

You may not like her, but if she isn't qualified who is?

Joe Biden had a longer stint in the senate. Does that qualify this fool to be president?

I don't think she's going to run on those years.
