Kirk has the top qualifying time for 5A, not bad for a 5'11 & 206 pound football player who had not run track in 3 years.

Folsom
LSU just offered Kirk Merrit from Destrehan

I like Merrit as a Percy Harvin weapon. He can take some jet sweeps but also be utilized in the passing game.

Doesn't have that speed.

Man this guy's first 5 yrds. are over the top fast!! Very few times in state below 11 flat in the 100 meters...so far. Was bumbed out that St. Aug didn't (Fournet) run in their regionals. For true this guy hasn't run track in 3 yrs.??? Wow!!

He has the physical ability to play WR, but he doesn't look very natural catching the ball. (He seems to catch with his body a lot instead of with his hands.) I am not sure how well he would do in college catching in traffic or on quick passing plays where he has to go for the ball and snag it away from his body.

He could be an amazing Darren Sproles style weapon, however. I wish LSU would push hard for him seeing that you don't have to split wide to impact the passing game. He blocks very well. Bring him in on third downs as a RB and you can play action fake a draw to him, and have him punish a pass rusher OR have him go out on a wheel route, toss him a short pass, and let him make plays in the open field.

He's just getting back into track. If he stuck with it, he'd be a college track guy as well. I know he can break 10.55. He's a superstar athlete. There's no denying that.

Not sure why you find that funny. A&M is also recruiting Merritt and most people do not have access to that board.

Sorry it upsets you that I passed along to Glenn that he had been given access but there is no PM function here.

Trey's best FAT time is exactly that (10.64), but that was last year. He has been running a little slower this year due to minor injury and less emphasis on track. It would be a great race between those two! Kirk is a phenomenal athlete!

Kirk would beat Quinn in a flat out race just based on better technique. Quinn can fly though.

I'd love him to play slot here but it seems like a luxury when we are getting Lanard and have Diarse and Chark already here. Also we'd be saturated with WRs if we really do want at least two more outside of Tyron. That is unless Ferguson would switch to TE.

I think it's 16 seniors plus Mills, Hunter, Kwon, and Alexander could possibly test the market. Then i think we are six below the scholarship limit. That'd give us 26. Miles will probably give two out to walk ons leaving us with 24.

9 RB/FB/WR
8 Defense
6 OL/TE
1 S/T
