What type of granite sealant should I apply to counter top?

Just bought a new home and the builder said I should apply a sealant to the granite counter tops in the kitchen before using it. I have never done this before. Is this something that I can just go to Home Depot and buy? Is it as easy as just applying a coat and letting it dry? Any special tools required? How long do a process is this including the wait time?

You can buy it at home depot. Apply with a cloth, wipe off excess. Put it on before you go to bed and you will be good in the morning

Why wouldn't the builder just do it?

None.
I've had granite for years and I think "sealing" is a bunch of BS, assuming its polished.

Builders typically do not seal granite or ceramic tile.
Just get the stuff from Home Depot and follow the directions.
Granite is a natural stone and even though its polished its still porous.

From working in the granite countertop industry, I would recommend sealing granite once or twice a year, keeps it from staining, mostly the lighter colors. It's an apply on, wipe the excess and let it dry process. Local hardware stores should carry the product.

No, not all Asians are related but I've heard she's a cute little thing.
