aka: The grass is always greener. Talk is cheap, but still an interesting report: Gallup Report

"Regardless of whether you will move, if you had the opportunity, would you like to move to another state, or would you rather remain in your current state?"

The report also shows that Louisiana residents aren't the only ones that want to change their scenery.

If you have the means/opportunity and you don't at least get out and see what else is out there, you are a moron...

You can always go back

That's about right, 40% of us probably pay 95% of the income taxes.

Would be really interesting if this poll had been done in the past. Really like to see pre and post-katrina and in the start of jindal's administration.

So 2003ish 2005/06 and 2008.

betcha something like that must exist out there.

Home is home. I know lots of good people who love Louisiana (including my dad), but the state is objectively kind of a shithole. I left for school in 2001 and haven't spent more than two weeks there at a time since my parents relocated their version of the "family seat" to NW Georgia. In fact, I've only been back twice since 2003--once in 2012 and once two weeks ago. My parents went back to visit the rest of the family on Sunday while I remained, alone, at their home in Georgia.

A lot of Louisiana is a dump. A crime-ridden dump. Of course there is a lot to like about Louisiana... but there are plenty of reasons that people would like to move outta there.

I tried the out of state thing. But Mississippi and Alabama both sucked.

If I had the opportunity to go to a few certain places, I would. However, it's a pretty short list that beats out my pick of any and all of Louisiana. I'd pick New Orleans over just about anywhere. If I was single (i.e. not in a long-term committed relationship), there's a lot of places I would go instead of BR if given the chance. However, the only places where I've had job offers have been Houston and Baton Rouge, so here I am for the foreseeable future

I just left from New York to live in Tennessee. Here are my reasons:
- Over $200k gets you a month to month living in NY in a neighborhood with good schools. I'd rather make less but live more responsibly
- Taxes are out of control. It's retarded that I would be penalized by trying to earn enough money to provide a basic living for my family.
- Other sources of government revenue are out of control. $12 to cross a bridge. If your meter runs out when you park the parking authority ninjas show up and you're out $120 - $200. All the surcharges and fees are rediculous.
- Cost of living. $2700 for 850 square feet. F that.
