I'm a pretty terrible gift buyer, especially when it comes to the thoughtful stuff. I'm thinking of maybe getting some sort of charm necklace with our sons birthstone or maybe a pandora piece for her bracelet... Where's the best place to look for these and what are some other suggestions you have for a first Mother's Day gift?

Definitely not a jewelry store. No way.

This here. I bought one of the those bracelets a few years ago and all I have to do now is go pick out a couple of charm deals in the event these holidays roll around. I have no idea if she really likes my strategy but that doesn't really matter. It's easy.

I did a massage and spa day package for her first Mother's Day last year. I think she enjoyed it, but most likely enjoyed being away from me more.

Maybe get her a weekend away all by herself?

If you can't figure out where to look for a necklace, you're probably going to need all the help you can get.

I got an iPad mini last year. That was fun. ;)
Pandora is nice if she likes that sort of jewelry. Get her a starter bracelet with a few beads, and y'all can add to it later on.

Spa package is nice as well. I still have a gift certificate for mine that I haven't had a chance to redeem yet.

Pandora bracelets...

how about a subscription service like Birchbox or Rocksbox... monthly beauty products or jewelry to try/buy... and it's the gift that keeps on giving...

If she's anything like my wife, she will think these are tacky as hell.

I'm trying to come up with something as well. So far I've got flowers being delivered to her work Friday and got on Walgreens and made a nice little card with about 15 pictures of her and the baby.

She better not read this

I'm not crazy about the charms with the birthstone. I think those are cheesy. My apologies to those who like them. I especially don't like a necklace like that.

I would get a nice charm bracelet with one charm disc with the child's name or initials on one side and the date of birth on the other. Get it hand engraved, not machine engraved. That doesn't last.

This suggestion is IF your wife likes jewelry and wears bracelets. It's more personal if engraved.
For Christmas, you can add a disc charm that's a little larger with her initials cut into it. A nice charm.

I gave two of these to mothers for Christmas, but I have a friend who hand cuts the medal so they weren't just flat discs with the engraving. They were cut. Too late to get that at this point, though.

Make her a photo book of the kid, and also make a card at Walgreen's or CVS with pics ....she will love it

I wanted to do the photobook thing too but she's been talking about making one herself. I know if I tried it, it wouldn't be exactly how she wants it. She works on those things for weeks.

This is a little mean but true. Many places have charms depending on your means. Any Jared has Pandora charms. Any Kohl's has knockoff charms. But they are easily found anywhere.

Tip.. Get something from you and something "from the baby". Which is a nicer touch.
