It's a chain and they just built one in Bossier City next to my Gym and Starbucks.

Any recommendations on what to buy? Gonna go there for the first time tomorrow and check it out.

Super meh in my opinion. I was not very impressed by the one near me. I suppose I should give them another shot, but I've since found delicious BBQ in the area, so I haven't seen any reason to go back.

I ate it for lunch today (first time): Ribs, Pulled Pork, Brisket platter w/ green bean and baked beans
Ribs were overcooked, chewy and lacked flavor
Brisket and pulled pork were plated on top of each other
Brisket was okay for a chain BBQ. Moist with smoke flavor
Pulled pork was below average with no flavor.
Green beans w/ bacon were bad. No salt and the "bacon" was unrendered fat.
Baked beans were watery, but okay.
I though the sauce was pretty good.

Thanks for all the info.
Lucy likes Podnuh's baked beans and chopped beef sammiches. But Podnuh's is a long way out of my route.
How does Dickey's sammiches and beans compare with Podnuhs?

Not close. Dickey's beans don't have the onion, garlic taste and are much more watery and the brisket doesn't have the Podnuh's bark for the texture difference. But I was obsessed with Podnuh's when I lived in BR, so I may be biased.

But don't let my review stop you. All in all, it is BBQ and it is edible.

I actually enjoy it for what it is. It is the best BBQ on the northshore, IMO.

My only problem with them is that they charge you damn near $3 for their yellow plastic cup each time you go. They don't give you the opportunity to bring your cup back either. $3 for a non-alcoholic drink is absurd.

I like Dickey's for what it is. I live in Madisonville, so it's the only decent BBQ I have that I don't make myself.

HOWEVER..... it is a far cry from Podnuhs (which I miss dearly)

I had Dickey's for the first time this past weekend. Wasn't bad IMO. The wife and I both thought it was better than Voodoo. For those interested, Costco has $100 gift cards for $70 and Sams has $60 gift cards for $48. I may pick up 2 from Costco for football parties at the house in the fall

Its OK for fast food BBQ....but I wouldn't eat it. Overpriced and underwhelming.

My parents live half a mile from the Bossier location and said it was terrible. Said the food had no redeeming qualities. Just drive 10 minutes to Podnuhs.

I disagree. Their sandwiches are pretty damn good and the jalapeño cheese sausage is money. The loaded baked potato side was awesome. I had low expectations but loved it.

It was totally meh when I went. The ribs were delicious. But the brisket was so dry I would have been embarrassed to serve it to guests at my house.

Don't plan on going back. Lots of better BBQ in Bossier.

And it was a little pricey IIRC. Alajones2 and I both got rib and brisket plates plus drink and I think it was like 13 each.

I actually had a hankering for BBQ today and ended up at the Covington Dickey's. I got a chopped brisket sandwich with the BBQ beans and mashed potato casserole as my two sides. It was an enjoyable meal, tbh. They still haven't waiver we from that damn $3 yellow cup scam however.

I need to try the one over here again. 2nd weekend it opened we stopped by to get some to go since we were heading home from my moms pool. Called in to go order, which I quickly learned they apparently don't do, waited in line for 45 minutes and then it took them another thirty minutes to get the food. They ended up giving me all kinds of free meal coupons that I haven't used yet.
