My current one is terrible and about 8 years old so Im looking to buy a new one. I would like to keep it around $600 or below. This will be used for the internet, office, etc. I dont need anything fancy for gaming. Just something new that will last me a few years.

I dont want a Mac.

This was suggested to me a few weeks ago. Not much of a review from websites but Amazon reviews seem alright.

Asus X550LA-DH51 15.6" Notebook - Intel Core i5 i5-4200U 1.60 GHz - Silver Gray

This goes for $600 on Amazon

Any other recommendations?

My Lenovo ThinkPad W520 just crapped out last night. It won't turn on.

ETA: I got it in 2010.

I personally wouldn't touch a refurb.

Windows 8 is the way to go now though.

I don't know if you've used Windows 8 before but the experience is greatly enhanced with a touchscreen. At your price point there are laptops equipped similarly to the one you're looking at that also have a touchscreen. Take a look at some of them.

Never played around with windows 8. Only 7.

Refurbished is cool to buy? Some of the reviews are iffy.

This is much better than the one I linked in the OP?
