Is this normal? Should you be seeing sparks when you flip a switch? Necessary to change out as a safety concern?

Eta: this is not a continuous spark or popping. I'm talking about one time as you flip the switch

I think you know the answer as to if it's normal or a safety concern. Is it normal to have electricity shooting out of walls normally?

Thought you were kidding. Wow. Take the cover off and see what what's wrong. You have a wire touching something it shouldn't be or the switch needs to be replaced.

Tell me how a single spark will burn a house down in the absence of a flammable gas.

I'll wait

As others have said, no this isn't normal. Cut off your power to that room and replace the switch. Make sure no wire is touching something it isn't supposed to be touching.

Nothing is shooting out of walls. It's an arc that you can see in the gaps between the switch and he plate. Very similar to when you disconnect or connect a cord into a wall socket and you see a spark or arc.
