I've got an old cheap orange one right now to strap to the yak, which I will never where when on the water, so it's not really doing me much good.

To be honest I probably would end up not wearing any vest style PFD while actually fishing, I kinda hate them, only wear them in the big boat when going between spots. I like the idea of the inflatable belt style PFDs. Anybody have a lead on a cheaper belt PFD? $80+ is giraffe poon

True, which is why I found the smallest old raggedy orange vest in poppa boats' attic and just shove it under the bungee cords somewhere out of my way

If I fish in colder water in winter with it tho I'll probably have waders on, and a legit PFD may be wise

I don't think that'd count if WLF checked me

I have this one. It's pretty comfy and can store all the lures you're planning on using that day.

If you tip over, grab onto your boyfriend's balls and have him rub one off on your shoulder. Should be good enough flotation for a yakker

I've been kayaking a good bit and I've never had any sort of PFD with me. I'll take my chances of drowning in 3' of water. Besides, where am I supposed to put the beer if my lifejacket is taking up all the room?

Beer room is no issue on this thing.

I don't know how much WLF checks yakkers, but I'd rather not take chances. I'm just curious to see what others do.

Academy has some for ~$75 for the auto inflate. I wouldn't want the auto inflate in a yak. If it got wet, its triggering. Manuals are even cheaper.

I got one from bass pro for 30$. It has netting where the shoulders go and pockets on the front. I use it more for convenience than safety.

They have some that trigger by pressure, so unless you go over and submerge the sensor it shouldn't inflate.

I'll probably just get something like this. Fold up and shove in the hull in warmer months, wear if I take fish from it in the winter.

I need one of these. I had my two in the back hatch of my boat. The hatch drains into the bildge. I didn't have the plugs in, and I took on some water backing off of the tralier. Water got in the hatch and blew them up. $40 to re-arm vests that I had purchased about 3 weeks earlier

I just carry one of these neoprene ones in my front hatch. I've put it on one time in Lake P when we got caught by a change in the weather.
