From TV line:

quote:

The Late Late Show is over for Craig Ferguson.

Ferguson announced to his studio audience at a taping for Monday’s program that he will step down as host of The Late Late Show in Dec. 2014. The news follows CBS’ decision to tap Stephen Colbert — and not Ferguson — to succeed David Letterman as host of The Late Show.

Said Ferguson, “CBS and I are not getting divorced, we are ‘consciously uncoupling,’ but we will still spend holidays together and share custody of the fake horse and robot skeleton, both of whom we love very much.”

“During his 10 years as host, Craig has elevated CBS to new creative and competitive heights at 12:30,” said Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment. “He infused the broadcast with tremendous energy, unique comedy, insightful interviews and some of the most heartfelt monologues seen on television.”

Added Tassler: “Craig’s versatile talents as a writer, producer, actor and comedian speak to his great days ahead. While we’ll miss Craig and can’t thank him enough for his contributions to both the show and the Network, we respect his decision to move on, and we look forward to celebrating his final broadcasts during the next eight months.”

I'm not really a fan, but that's crazy there's so much talk show turnover these days.

It has to be monotonous and boring as frick.

Especially considering you can't really interview people or talk about the things you would want to talk about.

ETA: Not that either of those things has to do with talk show turnover or Ferguson leaving.

He was actually really good, just had shite guests most of the time. That Eskimo pilot chick that was always on was kinda cute.

Damn, I was afraid of this. He is my favorite late night host, the best interviewer in the game.
Hope he gets on with another network

Having fricking Colbert instead of Ferguson replacing Letterman is a fricking disgrace.

Yep, especially when he was interviewing hot women. But his interviews are cool because he just talks about whatever is on his mind. A lot of times his interviews are pretty random.

Don't even watch him that much but sucks what happened to him. Would be even worse if they replaced him with that awful count Chelsea Handler.

Colbert is so much better than all these clowns. I hate that he's lowering himself to late night tv.

For once, a good idea from you ipodking.

But I liked Ferguson alot. I think he was the most honest of all the late night guys and wasn't simply a corporate suck up, which everyone else in his line of work was. This also likely worked against him in getting the Late Show gig.

I really hope he gets into radio or podcasting, since I think he would be great at it. Kimmel has been my favorite for a while, but I think I've admired Ferguson the most really. I wish him the best going forward for sure.

Honestly, Colbert's character is one of the best ever to grace the tv screen. I'm pissed because this is an obvious retirement of the character. It's also the reason why I don't think he's the best choice for Late Night, since I'm not sure if he can escape his iconic character.

I know. I want him to do well because i like him but I kind of hope he fails and goes back to the Report. He will probably be just funny enough to stick around but not be as funny as he was.

Exactly. If his interview on Letterman last week was any indication, I think he won't live up to expectations. I know when I think of Colbert, I think of his character on CC. I think it'll be hard for me personally to except him being his true self.
