Fiancee went to the range for a work team outing and got to fire several pistols and fell in love with the Sig P238. Just so happens, I'm a Sig fan as well and have heard a lot of good things about it although I've also read a lot about failure to feed issues with many different types of ammo. I believe I read somewhere that Sig has since worked this issue out with their newer P238's.

This brings up a few questions:
How do I know which P238's to avoid?
Where do you recommend buying one?
Any good deals out there right now?
Suggestions/Advice?

TIA

I had failure to eject issues. Sig sent me a new spring. Never looked back.

Have a Sig P238 as well carry it often I love it and I have never had an issue with it.

Look at your local Academy's and also look at Tactical Firearms on Mason south side of I-10 if you are around the west side of town.

There are several models of the P238 to choose from.

actually just wen to academy who was all sold out of p238s and the guy behind the counter recommended the p938 over the 238 as well
his reasons:
-9mm better knockdown( even if true, i don't see a significant difference from .380)
-9mm much more available ammo - true
-9mm much cheaper ammo - also true

other than that what stands out is a $200 increase in price

kind of up in the air on this but considering i own two other 9mm firearms and no .380's this seems to be a pretty easy decision to go with the p938

In that price range I'd shoot an HK before you buy.

Now it's the P30...but it's the same.(p229 is the size comparison...)

The P30 is not even comparable to a P238

Huge size difference

My bad, the 938 is tiny.

"Knockdown power" is a very misleading term. If he had said 9mm has more muzzle energy than 380, then yes I would agree with him that the difference is measurable.

+1 and +1

But know that the 938 is considerably bigger than the 238. I think this gun makes the jump from pocket carry to inside the waistband carry. Have her think about what method of carry she will be using and decide from there.

Also, the 9mm will have a bit more muzzle flip even though the gun is slightly larger and heavier. But if she can handle it, more power to her.

Exactly why I went with the 238. I needed one that I could carry in my back pocket. In the holster it looks just like a wallet. I carry a 1911 I the truck with me that I can also conceal but its not always pratical so the p238 fills that void nicely
