Using a marine grade plywood would be the way to go if varnishing it. Still, looks good.

that looks awesome... I toyed with doing that but that's way way more sanding than I wanted to do.

Never glass it.
It would weigh a ton. Now one could thin out some epoxy just to soak it in, the varnish over that. But one couldn't really stain it due to the oil in stain.Posted on 6/10/14 at 8:47 am to fishfighter

By thinning it out, it will soak into the wood, sealing it. Nothing more then that.

Yes it was, I am proud to say that I got almost all the glue off (advice to the next class....easy with the glue) many hours of sanding and a small fortune in sandpaper, but well worth it

That is nice, but the seats are set to close to the bow stems. One can add a wood grading in between the seats with some 1"x2"'s. It's just extra weight. When the boat is in the water, the water supports weight inside the boat. So, no real need of a grading in the bottom.

I can tell you how to do it. Same way I build big ones.
Angle of bow stem would be set at 4.5" off set for 3" sides. Top point would be at 32". Bow stem angle cut would be 22 degrees. From center point of the side, mark up 3/4". Bend a board to mark the arch in the bottom of the side board from the bottom of the bow stem on each end. That is going to set your bottom rake and side flair. Battens and rub rails would be cut 1/2" down to 1/4" out of a 1"x4", then cut again to 5/8".
Oh, if you want, I can draw it out on packing paper to the size and mail it to you. All you would have to do is trace it to the wood and cut/build.
