I'm starting PETE in the fall. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on electives y'all thought were interesting and helped you in the field. There's so many to choose from and I'm trying to narrow the list down to make it easier for scheduling. I'm already in Calculus 2, Chem 1201, the Geology class, and the Lab that goes with it. All I need is an elective right now to add on there to be able to drop a class and stay at full time.

Somehow I knew I was arguing with a high schooler in the other thread...

add to your thread title if you don't want it anchored.

You probably already missed the boat on this, but you should take the freshmen field course and knock out 8 hours of introductory credits in 6 weeks.

No sense in planning out years in advance. Courses will conflict, or you'll drop a class, etc.

Wasn't arguing with you, I was just trying to get a rise out of the OT. I think I somewhat succeeded

English

Take a technical writing class. For some reason, we were able to subsitute Biology for technical writing. It's coming back to bite me in the arse now. I'm constantly writing technical reports and I'm terrible at it

Take as much geology as possible. Get a Geology minor if possible. Pay special attention in subsurface mapping classes

It's just to have that ability to be flexible in case something unforeseen happens.

Do most kids test out of 1550 now? I can't ever imagine that's a good idea, but what do I know? Even if you "know" the material, a 5 hour A and getting used to college professors seems more worth it than getting done with math classes early. Nothing you take early needs 1552, but I bet they still push kids to skip 1550.

Some do, but I never tested out of it. I'm getting the college credit for Calc 1 since I'm taking it at McNeese dual-enrollment.

Which one? If it's past your freshman year, don't even worry about it.
