TD Mechanics, Please Diagnose My Problem

2005 Saturn Vue
Two wheel drive
2.2 L 4-Cylinder Engine
160,000 miles
Engine has a rough idle and misses very notably under acceleration. Electric cooling fan comes on at a high speed within 30 seconds of cranking engine. Check engine light is illuminated. Autozone got no codes on their scanner.
I have:
Changed the spark plugs
Changed the thermostat
Added some Lucas Fuel Treatment
No change after any of these procedures.
My next step is to change the ICM and or the coil pack.
Any suggestions?

sounds alot like a coil.. or sensor

It does sound like a coil. Pulling each coil should let you know if one is bad. Pull one by one.

You may want to check your engine temp sensor.

Quit throwing parts at it.
A quick google search of each individual code will be the most beneficial.

There's your problem. So much fail in those first 3 lines.

May want to make sure your car wasn't included in the massive ignition switch recall while you're at it.

Those numbnuts probably hooked up the wrong type of code reader. Take it somewhere else to get that coffee pulled before you throw money at the wrong thing.

Since you mentioned this I'm assuming it's unusual.
How mechanically inclined are you? You can usually check sensors with an ohm meter or volt meter by finding what they should read on the internets. Sounds like a gremlin somewhere. If you already have a meter checking sensors is free. You can also rent a fuel pressure gauge for free from autozone to check your fuel pump. You can find the specs for what most of that stuff should be on the net.

Ive got one of these did the same thing. Took it to Gerry Lane they did a fuel system cleaning. runs fine now. Carbon buildup is very common in the vues. Cost about 200.

Fan and CEL came on? That's pretty damn weird for a fuel system problem.
OP, I don't see why AutoZone couldn't pick up the code. Was the CEL on when they scanned it? It should be just your standard OBD2

Went to another parts store and the code there read misfire on cylinder four.
Since I had already changed the plugs, I bought a coil pack and changed that out.
It did the trick!
Thanks for all your help.

They must've not set the reader up correctly at AutoZone

Ole Yeller and Broke must be some sort of intrawebz savants!
To diagnose my problem from my meager description is truly amazing.
Thanks!
