Trying to decide which ones to take this semester. Looked for reviews on classes/teachers, but some of the classes are newer and the professors had few reviews.

Fin 3060 (Fundamentals of Financial Planning) - Woosley
Fin 3636 (Financial markets and Institutions) - N/A
Fin 3718 (Multinational Managerial Finance) - Utete

These are my three options, might be able to take 2 of them but need to take one. I believe 3060 is only a few years old because its not in old catalogs and there is very little information about it online. No professor yet on 3636 but any info on the class will be helpful. I've heard good things about Utete but it was hard to find info on what that 3718 class is like. If someone can please rely to me there thoughts going through some of these classes are then that will be very helpful, primarily 3060. TIA

Is 3060 new? I didn't really love 3636 but I learned a lot in it.

I never heard of 3718 either. I graduated in May 2010 and masters Dec 2011 so I guess there's been some time but I felt like I took almost every FIN class at LSU.

Its a KIN class, so I don't think it will count as a finance elective.

Yes 3060 is new as of 2 years ago I beleive. Not sure about 3718 but I am pretty sure its unrelated to 3716 and 3717

3060 will prolly be more helpful IRL. Wasn't there when I went thru LSU Finance.

Whatever you do, make sure you don't take McCollum. She teaches 3715 now, but heard she may be switching to 3636

If you are interested in real estate finance you could look at the courses taught by Brian Andrews. He's probably my favorite teacher from LSU.

FIN 3351 - PRINC REAL ESTATE
FIN 3353 - REAL ESTATE FINANCE
FIN 3632 - BANK ADMINISTRATION

I agree that Andrews is the tits. Solid professor. I took his Bank Admin class. It was at 6:30am but I went to every class. Learned a lot.

I really want to take Andrews but I'm not really interested in real estate.

I don't think you have to be a business major for 3060 but you have to have taken accounting. Check out 1060

If you're not interested in real estate don't take 3351 or 3353. However his banking class focuses on a little more than real estate. He focuses the class on the housing bubble and the ethics behind it. But you also learn a lot about how the money system works.

His Bank Admin class is for you then. He's a cool dude. I also think this class is a must if you want to do Credit Analyst route out of school. Normally open up a decent amount of jobs in this field with really good training and decent pay right out of school.
