Is this a thing now?

People saying Happy Resurrection Day instead of Happy Easter?

Saw this shite in my Facebook feed from a couple of holy roller types.

frick that. It's Easter. Eat a chocolate rabbit. Watch the Ten Commandments. Hunt for colored eggs. Go to church... Maybe. Why people gotta mess with it?

For people so confident in their religion, they do seem mighty insecure. If you go to services you know what happened on this day(ish) 2000 years ago. Why rename it. Want to change Dec 25 to 'Jesus' Birthday on the Gregorian Calendar'

Oh that's right, some people want to seem SUPER pious.

you think Christians invented Easter?
like virtually all Christian holidays, they just stole something from a previous "pagan" religion and changed a bit around.

meh, truth hurts i guess. no intentions of getting into a pissing match with a bunch of ideologues though.
and fyi, for anyone wondering, yes the easter bunny and hunting eggs are pagan. look up Eostre.

I've read that Easter used to be a Pagan holiday. A festival to honor the goddess Ishtar who was the goddess of fertility. Used to be tons of sexual orgies. Hence the rabbit or bunny as the symbol. That plus the word Easter is only in the bible once and it's a mistranslation. Should be translated Passover instead.

Well, you do know that the term "Easter" is taken from a Germanic goddess, right? It is a pagan holiday that was taken over and altered by Christianity.

If Scruffy recalls correctly, Eostre, or Ostara, is a goddess of fertility.

Easter comes from Ishtar, a fertility goddess.

Almost all of the Christian holidays have pagan roots.
