I have been running low on product so I stopped by here to re up. Ended up buying a new brush and crap. I felt like I just got took badly. $196 for kit and product. Though it has been 1.5 years since I bought a new brush. I use a safety razor setup.

I stopped after a while and went back to a Gillette. I kept feeling like I still had hair on my face so I decided to revert back. Are there any other kits that aren't as costly?

Also I got a straight shave from a local place in West Village last week. After, the guy took a electric razor to my face. Had to be the closest shave I ever had. Cost me $12. Total with haircut, $24. Value.

I still use the Gillette Sensor that they sent me when I was in high school.

But as a bearded man I only shave my neck and cheeks.

Yeah you got raped. Taylor of Old Bond Street, Truefitt & Hill, Castle Forbes shaving creams.

What kind of brush was it? What's it made out of? What's your razor? Do you have a scuttle?

Don't buy kits, that was your first mistake.

Well to be fair that was with $20 worth of blades too. You're still looking at $90 for just the kit. Feels too expensive. But it works since I have a thick thick beard.

It's good to sample with blades, but I really like Feather blades. Very sharp. Check 'em out.

Jeez, I just use soap in the shower and a disposable razor. been doing it that way for 30 years. No problems. 5 minutes while showering. Whats all this investment in brushes etc? Sounds beta to me.

Shaving old school sounds beta? You're a little confused there, buddy. And yes, by old school I include straight razors too. Which are my preference unless I'm in a hurry.

Well I say its highly overrated but their unscented doesn't make my face breakout. Unfortunately I have sensitive skin and can't use anything.

I go through about 3 Mach3 razors a year. Use edge gel. I only shave every 3 days on average though.

Try Taylor of Old Bond Street, or the other two companies I mentioned if you can afford it and look for lavender scents. They may have non-scented creams, but I can't recall. But their lavender stuff is for sensitive skin and works great. I use it a lot too because my skins sensitive.

Anyone here ever try the Shavettes. I've been using it for a while. I feel like I have more control compared to a DE razor. A lot less knicks. Cheaper than a regular straight razor.

Nothing wrong with investing in yourself. Your skin will thank you years down the road. Go try a butter and you'll never go back.

You will get pounded in the arse with Art of shaving. Their products are good. But no better than a million brands that are on amazon for half the price.

Taylor has been mentioned and I have no argument. Castle Forbes is high dollar but only a tad more than what you paid. Try Proraso. Old Italian shave creams and soaps. Bath and body works sells it under name CO Bigelow. Proraso only available on amazon.

You were the one saying sensitive skin? If so the most popular Proraso is green. With eucalyptus. It is tingly. But Proraso also has a blue tube that is soothing and a red tube that is sandalwood.

Razors I would suggest vintage gillettes. Gillette Tech is a good starter and can be had for $10-$60 depending on condition. I shaved yesterday with one from 1946-49.

Brushes? Ebay as well. Franks shaving is pretty cheap.
