After the Meachem and Morgan threads, I thought it would be fun to speculate which WRs will make our final 53.

We usually keep 5 or 6 and we are very likely to draft one somewhere.

Candidates:
Colston
Stills
Morgan
Meachem
Toon
Tanner
Givens
Hawkins
Draft Pick
Draft Pick 2(since some think we'll take two)
UDFA
Yet to be Signed Vet(since some think we'll still sign someone)

I got Colston and Stills as stone cold locks.

Meachem, Morgan, and Toon could all be competing for the same role, but we could very well keep 2 of the 3 or even all 3 depending on how many receivers we take.

I think there's a very strong probability that the draft pick sticks(or at least one of if we take two).

Last year we went in with:
Colston
Moore
Stills
Toon
Tanner(replaced with Meachem after week 1)

This year I'm guessing:
Colston
Stills
Morgan
Meachem
Toon
Draft Pick

I have 6 this year because we likely only take 4 HBs(unless we hit on one in the draft or an UDFA(again)) now that Sproles is gone.

It's also possible with the changes at safety and linebacker that we take 1 less at either spot and add an offensive player(making it and even 25 offense, 25 defense this year).

If we go in with only 5, I think Toon may be the odd man out unless he can show Meachem's consistency.

Really hoping that Toon can finally step up, but I'm getting worried that he's Adrian Arrington 2.0.

Would be nice if Tanner can take over Moore's role. He showed very well in the preseason last year and started the year on the roster.

No clue what to expect (if anything) out of Givens or Hawkins.

My 6:
Colston (Lock)
Stills (Lock)
Draft Pick (Lock)
Meachem/Morgan (comes down to one or the other, IMO)
Toon
Tanner

PS candidates:
Draft Pick Two - PS
Givens
Hawkins

ETA: Bottom line: I think Meach, Morgan, Toon, Tanner, and a rookie will battle for the last 3 spots

"Yet to be Signed Vet" - Not happening, IMO

Really don't know how much patience the staff is going to have with Toon. He has to come out the gate with a lot more consistency and stay on the field. If he misses much time in training camp, he's gone. Payton isn't going to waste as much time on Toon as he did with Arrington. Along with any draft pick/s, wouldn't be surprised to see the team bring in a number of UFAs at WR this year to try to find the next gem.

ETA: Forgot to put my 6 down.
I like the 6 picked by Goon:

Colston
Stills
Draft Pick
Meachem/Morgan (comes down to one or the other, IMO)
Toon (with a big "IF" behind his name)
Tanner

That looks about right to me.

Totally agree. I think we usually bring 10 to camp and we have 8 now. Add 2 draft picks or 1 pick and 1 UDFA and that's our 10.

Draft Pick Two
I guess nobody got the joke. Not that it was funny.

Edit:
And if we are projecting PS(usually 1, 2 at the most):
Tanner and/or Draft Pick 2/UDFA

They are high on Givens but he got hurt right before the preseason 2 years in a row.

No idea on Hawkins.

I had a feeling it was supposed to be a joke, but nah, wasn't funny. It's OK, they can't all be zingers.

Is all I can ever think of when reading your posts.

Did you guys know the single Crossroads wasn't the original version?

It's rare that a WR really costs a team a game, but he cost us the Jets game last year/the 2 seed. I have no faith in him whatsoever.

I'll go
1) Colston
2) Stills
3) Draft pick
4) Morgan
5) Meachem

But I do agree that there's a good chance that the Saints draft a pair of WRs. Would love something like Matthews in the 2nd and Josh Huff, Abbrederis, or Brandon Coleman in the 5th.

So if we kept a 6th you would likely add in the draft pick I'm assuming.

What if we kept 5 but drafted 2? Who'd you take off?

I'm almost there, too. Just holding out one final bit of hope, but I have a strong feeling I'll be disappointed.

Add Moncrief to the 2nd round possibility and I would love this outcome.

I actually really like the original also:

Crossroads(Original)

The harmonizing on the chorus is tight. Wish they would have stuck with that more in later years.

I wouldn't keep 6 given that Graham lines up at WR on the reg and Cadet played some last year. We have a pretty stacked DL, but with so many of them being FAs within the next two seasons, I would draft one to develop and keep one more than most teams.

I know what you mean, but the staff is hoping upon hope the guy pans out because he'd be a great replacement for Colston...when the time comes.

Gotcha. Just wondering what if. I agree on Graham and I think many people forget he basically is a receiver with how little(and poorly) he blocks. I still say we aren't as bleak at WR as many here think.

It would take everyone young not panning out for us to be in a bad spot.

Edit:
On Toon, I really think this is his last shot. He obviously has talent but he has to stay healthy AND consistent or he may be gone. Everyone else is going to pass him by this year if he doesn't step up.

Draft pick 2 is a stone cold lock imho. He runs phenomenal routes and makes the best of his opportunities.
