Best sipping liquors on a budget

So I'm expecting to have a rather awesome weekend trip next week. And I'm looking to bring something decent. I'm trying to make the switch from mixed drinks to something I can sip on. My budget is around $30.

Rum or whiskey. Or liquer. Someone suggested Gran Marnie which I've had before, but I can't imagine getting silly drunk off it. I've done plenty of scotch on the rocks, but this isn't really a scotch on the rocks weekend. This is a bachlor party like weekend.
