Just got confirmation today that a cabin I've been looking at in Tee Harbor came through. It will be a camp until September, when I'll move in full time. It's two cabins put together, needs a little work but I am getting it for a great price.

It's on the road system, has a harbor with berths for boats. Our place will be on the waterfront, but subject to some great tidal fluxuations. I'm pretty stoked, I'll be able to salmon fish and get fresh crab from my front yard.

how much are the tidal flucuations there?

Congrats on the new pad. That will be pretty amazing.

Also, with the water being so cold, can you leave a boat in the water there or will one need bottom paint or just trailer them.

Extreme is around 22 ft. Average daily is around 15 ft. In extreme low tides, I't will probably be pretty low around the arm this cabin is located.

It's an awesome place. Whales, sea lions, etc.

You can leave it. I'll have to check and see what the fees are at the harbor across the inlet. The skiff can just stay at the cabin, probably use that more than anything else. I can drop the crab pots close to the house.

Probably.

They filmed one of those "Buying Alaska" shows in the house closest to the cabin. The lady in that show didn't choose the house because of the bears.

There's bears anywhere in Juneau.

I jelly. I'll be up soon to fish.

ETA:

I'll eat those crabs, too.

That's awesome!
I kayaked by a few of those last year across the bay from Ketchikan. That place is beautiful; wish I could spend a few months a year there. Nothing like catching food from the yard.

Yep, It's got an oudoor cooking area, so I'll be doing regular crab feasts on weekends.

My wife likes to whale watch, it's in prime whale watching territory. It has a nice dock, and there's a nice community out there on the other side of the harbor from my place.

Damn. Does it have camp's in the area? I would love to own a rental property up that way. I was thinking about buying one in Idaho, but that place looks awesome.

Some of the islands just off shore have camps. Also, further out the road there are some camps as well.

I can access my place via the road system, it's about halfway between town and the end of the road. It's on Lynn Canal, which is the largest Fjord in N. America.

This is the entrance to the "Tee" arm where our place will be. It's opposite the dock.

It's pretty close.

Downside is they get a lot of snow in the winter. The road is maintained, but the driveway is a switchback at a very steep angle. Probably have to park uphill in winter and buy a plow or pay someone to do it.
