What's the difference?

Prep school typically doesn't use up NCAA eligibility. JUCOs do.

Prep school is for one year only and doesn't use a year of the athlete's eligibility. JUCO (if the athlete doesn't have the grades out of high school) is for two years. After JUCO an athlete can have 3 years to play 2. Not everyone can go to prep school and it is usually extremely expensive and not much scholarship money available. Prep school (from an athletic standpoint) is basically for an athlete that had the grades in his classes but needed to up his ACT or SAT score. Football wise, the quality of football at JUCO is generally better. MS JUCO is probably the highest quality of them all and is one of the biggest leagues with 14 teams.

Yea.... prep school is just lthat... it prepares you for college. You can get your grades up, still play sports and not waste any college eligibility.
JUCO goes against college eligibility.
And you can only go from high school to prep school. You cant go from college to a prep school. Once you go to college, you can only go to JUCO.

Another thing to expand on that was mentioned earlier, if a kid goes to JUCO even though he qualified for D1 out of high school, they don't need to graduate from JUCO to be able to transfer to a D1 school. This is more common in baseball than other sports, but it carries over all of them.
If a kid didn't qualify out of HS they must graduate JUCO before they can be eligible at a D1 school.

Yea Prep school is basically a 5th year of high school.

Also of note, the NCAA has raised the academic standards for a kid transferring from a JUCO to a D1 school. There is more to it now than just getting an associate's degree.

You must be really young
JUCO means junior college aka community college a place where you get an associates degree.
Prep School is like someone else said a 5th year of HS usually used to get your grades up and prepare you for college.
