Weird question concerning parents and hearing loss

So, my father is 65. Tonight I went over to his house to hang out with him and watch a movie. As the evening went on, he kept on turning the tv up louder and louder. This isn't a new occurrence. It got to the point where I could genuinely no longer enjoy the movie because it was blasting and I was counting down the minutes until it was over.
I have also noticed that I have had to repeat myself a lot lately, when I'm having a conversation with him.
It's obvious my dad has some hearing loss. My question is: how can I approach this subject without hurting his feelings/making him feel attacked? He has his pride, but I am worried about him. I'd like him to get a hearing aid, if necessary, because I feel it would improve his life. Thoughts?

Start just mouthing words when you're around him. Bring friends over to watch and help. Teach him a lesson, he's being selfish.

Same thing is happening with my dad. He is deaf, or mostly deaf in one ear and it is a pain in the arse to talk with him. You have to basically scream at him to talk to him. If he is on the other side of the room forget it. Other ear is ok though. Thing is he knows he has a bad ear but won't admit he need to get it checked out.

I do this when my wife keeps talking during the movie.

Not to freak you out, but my dad had one ear with hearing loss much worse than the other, and it turned out to be caused by a brain tumor (the tumor was benign, removed last year, and he's completely fine now). But definitely worth having the doc check it out.
I was just reading an article about how hearing loss is up 31% in teens in the last 20 years.

My dad has hearing loss, too. He has hearing aids, but they don't help that much. I know it's frustrating for him. Having a lot of patience. helps. And protect your hearing so it doesn't happen to you!

My Dad wore a hearing aid before he passed.I think he was having trouble hearing conversation.
A lot of folks are embarrassed to wear one. They're so small now they're not very noticeable.

Also, it sounds stupid, but it could be something as simple as excess wax buildup.

Hearing loss can definitely be frustrating for the person w/ HL as well as the family. I'd encourage him to get it checked out. My papaw recently went through this - he was very much in denial about his hearing loss and wasn't willing to really do anything about it. After a few years of us begging, he finally went to an audiologist... At first he was completely against any type of aid until he realized some can be worn almost completely in the ear canal and can barely be seen by anyone not LOOKING for the aid. His world kind of changed when he sat in his car and locked the door and said "wow, I never heard that sound before."
Just a little advice - there are some things you and the fam can do to try to minimize frustration for him and for y'all. Try to limit background noise when y'all are having a conversation (turn tv lower, make sure not everyone is talking at once). Also, make sure you face him when you talk to him. Lip reading is a huge help for someone w/ HL.
It's important you encourage him to get it checked out (to rule out anything else as others have stated) and to also understand the TYPE of HL he may have so that y'all can make modifications that will benefit him. Good luck!!!!!!

I'm sure Keith Moon blowing up his bass drum right next to his head had nothing to do with it.

My dad was a shop teacher and my great uncle was a carpenter, too. When I was younger, they used to watch the Mike Tyson fights with the volume full blast. My cousin and I would flat out tell those two deaf frickers that they were deaf frickers. Don't know if they heard us or not, but felt they needed to hear it.
