How stacked is this defense? That second CB spot is really my only big concern going into the year on defense and although we could draft a guy, rookies are never proven commodities.

I know that injury was nasty and I haven't heard a single peep on his progress, but man it would be so nice to get him back for any period of time next season

Was about to say, all indication I ever saw was that this was a potential career ender. Would love to have him back but not seeing it, especially at his age.

I may be taking crazy pills, but I thought we cut Greer? Did we cut/resign for cap reasons maybe?

Either way, to answer your question, I doubt he can fully come back from that injury at his age and contribute in any meaningful way again.

Hasn't been resigned, but I think the door is still open for him to return if he can.

The only update I found on him is this:

quote:

NFL.com's Albert Breer's "feeling" is the Saints haven't ruled out bringing back free agent CB Jabari Greer.

Greer hasn't drawn any known interest since being released and is coming off November ACL surgery. He held his own in Rob Ryan's defense when healthy last year and could be insurance behind No. 2 corner Champ Bailey. Greer hasn't played a full season since 2011 and is questionable to be ready for the start of training camp. Apr 11 - 8:01 PM

And that doesn't touch on his rehab progression

Did they ever indicate the extent of the damage he did to his knee?

If Greer can come back at say....80% (I mean skill level not health)....then yea sign him back up.

Between Bailey, Robinson, and White I highly doubt we look into Greer. One of those 3 will step up and claim the #2 spot(betting on Bailey first, Robinson second).

I think if the right corner was there it would be a good idea to grab him if he is BPA because Bailey and White only have 2 years left and Robinson one. If not we can always grab one next year(or the year after if worse comes to worse).

Yeah I don't think I get the feeling he's done with football. I saw him listed under FA CBs on the NFLN ticker as well. Not that necessarily means anytbing, but I think that means he's still sort of on the radar.

I'm not saying I expel him to come back and be our #1 guy anymore as I know Lewis has really taken that role. But I have no doubt if he's healthy he can still be a very good #2

Based on what I saw from him last year, he was starting to struggle in spots. The age and injuries were catching up to him before forking up his knee.

He'd have to come back 100%(or damn close to it) to be better than Robinson and White because he is yet another year older.

I believe he tore all three ligaments of the knee.

Would love to have him back and I wish him well.

FWIW, I saw him a couple of weeks ago at a parade. He was walking without any hint of a limp.

Doesn't mean anything. I tore my ACL, MCL, and a muscle a while back, and even though I was able to walk pretty regularly soon afterwards, walking is a different beast than running and twisting on that knee.

Pretty normal this far out from surgery. It's the running and cutting that stresses the ligaments.

Ninja'd!

Would love for him to be back, but I highly doubt this happens. As long as he remains living in New Orleans, he'll still be a Saint!

Especially once we draft the passrushing cyborg that is Anthony Barr.

Umm... we did sign Champ Bailey. Our #2 CB spot is pretty solidified, with decent backups behind him like White and PRob. And if we draft a CB, that will be another guy on the depth chart.
