Wife wants to take the kids to "something other than Destin" this summer. Anyone here been? Talking about the one in New Braunfels, not Galveston.

Yes. Fun, but a bit gross.

That's to be expected. Just a lot of gross people sharing a bath in general.

Have been multiple times. Most recently last summer. It's a blast. I recommend getting the early pass to beat the lines in the "new park" with the big rides and then spend the rest of the day in the old park. The wave river is a blast too if you want to chill, but it does get quite packed. They have something for everyone there.

I went as a kid 25 years ago.
It's something I would like to take my kids too, but haven't pulled the trigger yet due to timing. Alot of people I heard from said that unless you go during very specific times, the crowds are insane. Standing in lines and dealing with tons of people doesn't work that well for me.
I will look into it a little more, maybe even think about staying on-site.

Thanks for the info. You have to take a tram or something between the old and new parks, right?

All the time, but only the one in New Braunfels. It's a lot of fun and it's huge so even if it's packed you will have the ability to cool off and ride with little wait.
You can actually bring ice chests, and have your own food and drinks to save money too.
There are three "lands" in two separate areas.
It's cheaper than Blue Bayou too.

Highly recommend Schlitterbahn. Great place to take the kids. Fun for adults too because they have pool bars at the park. Also Check out Gruene Texas while you are there. It is a neat little town with a restaurant called the Gristmill and check out Gruene Hall, the oldest dancehall in Texas.

Yeah you do, but they do have a water ride that goes to the two "new parks" so you don't have to walk across the parking lot.
The trams run frequently and take about 5-7 min to get from one park to the other

New Braunfels is the only location worth driving more than an hour to.
You can also hit up the drive thru safari and natural caverns on your way up or back.

I'm fine swimming in my own piss, but swimming in Tyrone and Jose's piss is where I draw the line.

I don't think I've ever gone to a water park and not felt at least a slight bit off after.

you can bring in an icechest with your own food, so bring a picnic and you don't have to pay for high priced snacks
also, buy your tickets at an HEB and you can save a few bucks on tickets
we went last year but only half of the park was open because it was a surf n save day......so its half priced admission
i think it was like that bc schools in texas hadn't let out yet
