PC Help: Game keeps minimizing to desktop

I recently tried playing Bioshock Infinite's new DLC but every 5-10 minutes my PC will flash to a black screen for a second and then show my desktop with the game minimized to the task bar. This doesn't happen when I play Titanfall and happened only once while playing The Walking Dead for a few hours. Any ideas how to resolve this?

Hah, I tried, but it keeps failing. I had this problem before the current Windows update.

Is it a desktop or laptop and are you using a controller or mouse/keyboard

My Windows 8.1 install does the same thing. Playing any game and it randomly drops to desktop as if I Alt-Tabbed.
Desktop, Single Monitor.
Still have yet to figure it out.

Almost certainly another program causing it.
iTunes, autocad, radeonpro, afterburner, razer software, mouse/keyboard software, Skype, antivirus software, fraps, adobe, microsoft office background processes, or anything similar could be the culprit. Or a third-party app related to windows functionality -- I'm sure you windows 8 folks have something like that, to either skip/hide the metro stuff, add a start button, or whatever else to make it look more like 7. Even if you have the programs but don't think they are running at the time, check task manager. Some of them are notorious for having some sort of constant activity to check for updates - iTunes, adobe, and office for example.
If you have any of the above or similar installed, end each process one at a time and try to reproduce the result until you find the culprit.

Yeah. I was thinking maybe a thumb accidentally pressing a corner on a touch pad on the laptop, but it is a desktop. I would go into msconfig and disable all non MS apps and see if that fixes itand then enable them one by one until you find the problem app
