this season could be worse...

We could be the suns (a team that looked poised to get a top-3 seed in the beginning of the season) who will be eliminated from the playoffs tonight by the mavs.
*lose to the mavs tonight and eliminated by the grizz Monday night

I'd argue that we have a much brighter future, so them not making the playoffs is simply a complete waste of a season.

The Suns were poised to be a top-3 seed? No way. They were expected to be one of the worst teams in the NBA, and they are fighting for a playoff spot.

we have a bright future, but so do they....great young coach, cap space, several first round draft picks, and Dragic/Bledsoe/Morris

yes, I believe that they had the beat record in the west about 1/4 in.

best record 1/4 of the way in is in no way a good indicator of the last 3/4 of a season. Injuries, playing an easier schedule that skews your record, and players that were not go back to their norm are all normal in a full season.
Now if you said it was 3/4 of the way in and they went from top 3 to 8-9, then we'd have an argument, but 1/4 of the way is crowning them prematurely, WAY prematurely.

Yeah youre right.... It would be worse to be the surprise team of the year that was predicted to be a bottom 3 team in the league and tanking for an early pick that wins 47 games, with some great young talent and a very good young head coach, and 3 1st round picks. And can potentially make the playoffs with a 47 - 32 record, even with 1 of their top players missing 30+ games in Bledsoe.
It really must suck to be that team.
And the Suns never were poised to be a top 3 seed. At anytime during the season. Saying they were after 1 month of basketball is just dumb. Thats like saying the Bulls were poised to miss the playoffs early on and their record would be 33 - 49 based on what they did early on in the season.
