He was a renown children's surgeon In a big northern city that began to speak patriotic conservative views that caught everybody's attention. As a Black conservative he began to get on TV a lot and built a following. Of course he was attacked for it by MSNBC, NAACP, CBS,NBC, etc. and began a speaker for conservative Free Enterprise, Capitalist views, not Socialism and Communism. I'd rather have him for GOP President than Paul or Bush,etc..

His life story is also quite compelling. He was the son of a single mother who grew up poor. His mother made him read books while other kids ran the streets (Philadelphia, I think). He was a very talented student and went on to medical school and later became the Chief of Pediatric neuro surgery at Johns Hopkins. He has recently retired and was asked to speak at a National Prayer breakfast a few years ago. He gave a speech ( All extemporaneously) right in front of President Obama that basically rejected every belief and political position that Obama has. He has since done a lot of public speaking and conservative appearances. He is very impressive from what I've seen of him.

He is basically, the anti Obama.

He's a black pediatric neurosurgeon who grew up very poor. He became famous when he was invited to speak at the National Prayer Breakfast a couple years ago.

He criticized Obama's policies in his speech as Obama was sitting right next to him.

So now the left hates him. However, the left has a dilemma with him. Here is a black man who grew up poor who became a neurosurgeon who saves children's lives. And he's a conservative.

It's very difficult to attack somebody like that while also remaining politically correct. So they absolutely hate him, but they can't really successfully attack him because they can't use any of their usual smears (racist, stupid, privileged, out of touch, etc).

He is an Affirmative Action success story who got into Yale because of the Program. Somewhat rejecting the program now(not totally though).

great points and exactly why he needs to be the nominee...he can win if he can get on the big stage... he is smart and honest ... those are really the only 2 traits we need in president at this point.... I want him to lead our nation.

I will tell you what to do. Go try some independent reasearch it is good for you to practice every once in a while. He is one very brilliant neurourgen as he pioneered the idea of hemispheric removal of half of peoples(especiallating halfy chhildrens) brains to let an operating brain to take control of all that the other half is not doing effectively whil in the cranium. I do know that if he decided to run for President tomorrow I would find out where his headquarters for his campaign was and move there before the week ended. Why? Because he handed Bozo his mutilated arse about two years ago in a public(broadcast) setting with Bozo a few feet away. On a scale of 1-10 he is a ten and Bozo a two at best which would be lower if the prompter was out of sight.

ETA I first read about his accolades as a surgeon over twenty years ago. It was the idea of hemispherectomy on children that made of such hig stature in his speciality on the map. If he has half of the bedside manner that I read him then he is a black candidate to run against any other person Dem or Rep or white versus white for the fact that he has the ability to walk upon water and doesn't need a script to convey his thoughts when speaking to elementary school children as ome folks do.

From what I gather, he seems like a guy who's paid attention to what was going on around him. He's straight out of the old Booker T Washington school.

Ivy League schools include need based admissions. IE, since he was poor he would have had an advantage regardless of skin color.

yes, I got accepted to Yale (probably because I was raised by a widow) but chose not to go because I went for a campus visit in Feb and it was like 15 degrees (freak the cold) and of how expensive it was.

The best deal I got was Mich. State. Tuition, room, board, books all paid for. Plus I got an automatic position on the student/faculty rules committee. They were recruiting me hard because they needed more National Merit Scholars to get their academic ratings up.

I threw all of their letters away. Too damn cold.

What he is describing has been called 'striving'. The concept came up when the SC struck down aff action in the U. Texas law school case.

To simplify....why should Bill Cosby's son get an advantage because he's black while the white child of a garbage collector gets no advantage with the same grades and test scores?

A lot of colleges went to conditions needed to overcome adversity. A lot of it is circumvention of race preference and under qualified blacks get admitted in order to achieve campus diversity.

Thomas Sowell has written extensively on this and the concept of mismatching.

I got in to Yale, Tulane, and Rice but very little scholarships for them. I got a full ride for LSU (which I lost most of it after pledge semester ).
