An aspiring TV producer, who had worked for Comedy Central’s viral video-based series “Tosh.0,” was accidentally killed on Monday night when Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies mistook him for a mad slasher, FOX411 has learned.
A panicky 911 caller told dispatchers a man with a 10-inch butcher knife was threatening people. So when Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies saw a wounded, bloody man rush out of a West Hollywood apartment with someone on his heels, they opened fire.
But the man they gunned down Monday night wasn't the slasher; he was a fleeing hostage.

Yes, apparently Nomad, although I didn't catch it...
But Asgard def defended it.. "Maybe someone should think about running towards cops when they are covered in blood"

Sure was!
So how did you defend the police gunning down an innocent man fleeing a psycho with a knife?

Read this last night, sad, but not murder which has to be intentional or callous neglect.
Question to all you who think the police was 100 percent wrong, if someone ran at a wounded hostage who was already bleeding what would you do ? I think every cop thought the guy easy attacking the wounded guy.
When you use a gun continually in your job description there is just going to be mistakes, that is just a fact.

Well he shouldn't have been running.
Why didnt the know that only guilty people run?

So why was the assailant charged with it.
And you don't consider the cops shooting a fleeing victim callous neglect?

"The door suddenly opened and a man with blood spurting form his neck entered the doorway" with Winkler — a thin man wearing a black shirt — running after him only inches away, Scott said.
It sucks, and it isn't the good police work at all, but if you say a gunning form someone and could tell if that someone was going to kill them a lot of people would probably shoot in that situation.
Still a bad shoot, but not murder.

Misleading question.
One stabing victim ran from the house bleeding from multiple stab wounds. The 2nd victim was running close behind and cops mistook him for the assailant and thought he was chasing the victim to continue stabbing him. So they shot him with the belief they were protecting the 1st victim.
Was it a huge mistake? yes.
Was it murder? no.

Seems like they shot both. I wouldn't call it murder, but it sure reeks of a whole lot of trigger-happy stupidity.

A lot?
Awesome right there.

Cops were shooting at Winkler who they thought was chasing the 1st victim. The 1st victim was hit in the leg accidentally.

As stated in the other thread, they wounded one victim, killed another and apprehended the actual criminal with physical restraint.
POS cops.
POS cops.

what would you do?
And what if it is the guy with the knife? He is right behind a guy bleeding form the neck and is probably trying to kill him.
Obviosuly this is tragic. But is isn't murder. They didn't go to this guys house and shoot him for no reason. To say this is criminal is a bit far.

Shoot when my life was actually in danger. Like when someone aims a gun at me, or is slashing at me with a knife. So say the other guy was chasing him. Did he pose a deadly threat? No. Was he holding a weapon? No. Somehow they managed to physically restrain the actual criminal but killed the guy running from him.
I have a hard time believing the arrival of the cops improved the situation. This is a growing trend.

Glad to see the blue line show up. Good evening. If this happened to any civilian they would be on trial yesterday for manslaughter or negligent homicide.
