Why do so many people buy jerseys, especially the authentic ones from Nike, Reebok, etc.? Some people buy a new one when a new, great player is signed to their team. Some say their reasoning is to support their favorite player. Even the knock-off ones are fairly pricey.

What makes a jersey different from a team polo in terms of team support? I'm not one of those jersey haters that gets all worked up when "grown men wear jerseys to games." I do own an LSU jersey that I got from Walmart in college years ago, but it's just generic with a number, no name. I've never bought another one since.

I buy soccer jerseys for 2 reasons

Know someone with a D Jax jersey already. His has the #11 but I'm not even sure if that's the number he'll wear with Skins so can't say if real or not.

Some people collect them.

Some get them autographed and framed.

Have a Dez Bryant jersey I bought a few years ago but I will likely never buy one again.

It's not my thing but I get it I guess. It's a way for people to express who their favorite team is and then a step further for who their favorite player is.

Disagree. I wouldn't wear one to a nice restaurant but going to the grocery store or something, they look fine.

Show support for who your favorite player or possibly favorite team is at the same time. Why do people get so worked up over somebody wearing jerseys. Nobody is forcing you to wear one.

I have an LSU #7 jersey signed by Patrick Peterson that I don't wear, I have a Freddie freeman braves jersey, and a Jimmy Graham saints jersey. I wear my braves one in the postseason mostly and then I like to wear my graham jersey every Sunday especially if I'm watching it with people.

I love getting some old school hockey jerseys. My fave is a 84 Hartford whalers jersey I got off eBay a few years ago.

My hockey and soccer jerseys are the most comfortable shirts I own.

Most of mine are authentic, but I've never paid full price for them.

I guess I consider them different because you can buy soccer jerseys that don't have a player's name on the back. Seems like most people's (I don't give a shite) objection to jersey wearing is a grown man wearing another grown man's name on his back. I guess you can do this with some baseball and hockey jerseys too, but I feel like the people that get the most ridicule are the people who wear player jerseys, not jerseys in general.

Because they're rooting for laundry and they want to make sure it's the right laundry.

Only jersey that looks decent in public is baseball.
