What should I pour in there to slosh around? Afraid bleach or some other strong chemical will eat away the styrofoam blocks.

Maybe just soap and water?

Do you have hatch leaks?

Soap and water, towel dry really well, stick a fan into one of the openings and let air circulate through it for a while.

I know from experience

Try vinegar on the styrofoam first then add that to the soap and water as well.
