The brewery’s Rebirth Pale Ale debuts this month, paying tribute to Rebirth Brass Band while raising money for The Roots of Music, a nonprofit music-education group co-founded by Rebirth drummer Derrick Tabb and Allison Reinhardt.

Rebirth Pale Ale initially will be available on draft only, but the brewery plans to release canned six-packs of the brew this summer. The American-style pale ale, which has an ABV of five percent, uses five malt varieties and Cascade, Simcoe and Citra hops.

NOLA Brewing plans to celebrate the new beer, the brewery’s first pale ale, with a release party on April 16 at at 5 p.m. in the NOLA taproom, 3001 Tchoupitoulas St.

Admission is free and open to the public (ages 21 and up) and will feature complimentary light bites, live entertainment and $3-$7 beers.

The party’s special guests include The Roots of Music Marching Crusaders along with Tabb and other members of Rebirth Brass Band.

Read about that earlier this morning.

I'm hoping it's good. I'm a huge fan of pale ales and a huge fan of canned beers. This could be a regular in my fridge if it's good.

Can design looks pretty sweet as well.

Roots is a non-profit I like to get behind. I'm a bourbon drinker, but I'll stock this in my house for friends.

For those interested, Roots is sandwiched in between Dr. John and Rebirth Friday at FQF. They all play at the Abita Beer Stage in Woldenberg Park starting at 4 and ending at 8:45.

The tap handle and the cans are top notch. Hope the beer is the same. Im glad this is finally coming to light, i thought for awhile that maybe the idea got canned (no pun intended).

Hot damn. That's a really great move by NOLA. Can't wait to have one poured for me at either dba or the Avenue.

The can design is awesome. I hope the beer lives up to it. Fingers crossed.

The beer will likely be a hit whether it's good or not IMO due to marketability.

Have had a good many of the Rebirths in the past few weeks, both cans and draft. I like a hoppier APA, but it's tasty and for a good cause, so I'll continue drinking them

I had a pitcher at the Mid-City Bulldog and it was mediocre. Will try the cans and keep my fingers crossed.

You should have said hello to me.

I've drank a shite ton of it and all the variants. I think it taste better out the can b/c of Frenchy's beautiful work. I think it has potential to be one of the best selling beers in the state. Local beer, local artist designed can, supporting local musicians. As Frank Davis would say..........

I do prefer Envie, but I just bought a case of Rebirth. Why ? Because a can works better for beaches and boats. Rebirth is a great summer beer.

You also forgot because they don't sell Envie except on tap in Nola.

Completely agreed. More crisp and better balance of hops to sweetness.

But I'll defer to HeadyBrosevelt's expert opinion.

Well I know people so I'm good, but yes Envie don't jive with the open container laws in NOLA. Will be a bunch of Rebirth cans on parade routes come Mardi Gras.
