Medicaid USA

Keep in mind, this is not Medicare (old people) this is Medicaid (welfare). Larger than UK, France, Italy.

No.

You keep in mind that over 70% of Medicaid is paid out to the elderly & not those poor stereotypical Welfare recipients the Right have made a boogeyman of( Especially Nursing home residents after Medicare payments ends).

Although they are 25% of the recipients the Elderly cost nearly 75% of the Medicaid program.

The unfortunate residents of St Ritas Nursing home who drowned , in St. Bernard Parish ,are more 'faces' of Medicaid than the stereotypical one those on the Far Right would like to paint(poor minorities).

Easier to villainize/steretype poor minorities than the Elderly pushed off into Nursing homes.

No.

Yes. Medicaid is welfare. The poor don't pay into it because they don't work. When the poor get old it's still welfare.

Using MSNBC soundbytes isn't gonna cut it.

quote:

In a recent MSNBC interview, Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, noted that the elderly account for a modest percentage of Medicaid beneficiaries but a large share of costs paid by the program.

quote:

In the midst of a television interview, Brown erred in recounting Medicaid’s statistics, oversimplifying figures on both enrollment and costs. In reality, elderly beneficiaries by themselves account for nowhere close to the two-thirds of Medicaid’s costs that Brown suggested

Politi Fact - we changed the name for the rating to Mostly False.

The problem is the system, everything about it.

It's not just the lazy good for nothing welfare recipients.

If by system you mean government, then yes you are 100% correct.

Sort of, yeah. They enable all of the problems.

But the entire medical industry is out of whack.

Just about everything about it is wrong.

Not to mention how drastically incorrect our food industry is, which contributes greatly to our health issues.

The insurance industry is totally incorrect.

But yeah, sit here and point your finger at the poor people for accepting welfare.

What is out of whack and incorrect about the medical and insurance industry?

Pretty much everything.

The dynamics of it all are wrong. Before anyone ever heard of the term Obamacare it was evident the industry needed an overhaul.

This is an essay (at least) worth of information to share, it covers so many things. I know it's, like, um, like, you know, my responsibility to back up something I say. But at the same time people need to be responsible citizens, if you're not in tune with things it's your fault. It would be nice if secondary level conversations could develop on these types of boards, but instead time is wasted over things that should be more well known and understood.

The way insurance works is totally wrong. The way it is in the medical industry is equivalent to having your car insurance cover your gas.

The doctor-Rx company relationship is unethical. The fact that holistic and natural remedies are totally irrelevant inside hospital walls is a serious issue.

It's almost dumb to list one or even ten things because this runs so deep.

What do you suggest to get our 'medical industry' out of 'whack?'
